on irene's request 😐The Kingston family lived in the only house on Pine street on the edge of town. Mr. and Mrs Tucker both had jobs in town and theyre only son Tucker was going to bed a senior in the local high school once school was back in session. The land on either side of the Kingston residence had been on sale for years yet no one had ever showed and interest in it. It remained vacant for yers accumlating brush and grasses on the lot.
On a scorching say in early July Tucker woke up to the sound of a car coming up the street. He looked outside just in time to see someone pull away from the vacant lot. As he watched the drive off he saw that there was a sold sign on the sign indicitation the lot next to his house. At dinner that night he mentioned it to his parents,
-"hey, i saw they sold the lot next door"
-"yea" his father eplied "i heard theres a family moving in from georgia, as far as i know they have a daughter names Kristy whos in your year, i was hoping when they arrived you could show her aound town"
-yea sure i can
-great.Tucker watched day by day as the house was built, waiting for the arrival of Kristy and the rest of the jackson family. Finally they arrived. Tucker woke up and peered out his window as he had been doing for severl days now and saw the moving truck parked outside the newly constructed house. He showered, dressed and went out to meet the new neighbors. As he walked up there was only a man outside. HE strolled up an extended his hand:
-"hello you must be Mr. jackson."
-"Yes i am, who might you be?"
-"My name is Tucker Kingston im your neighbor"
-"Nice to meet you tucker" Mr Jackson signaled to his family to come over. Kristy, Sarah, this is Tucker hes our new neighbor"
-"Nice to meet both of you"Julie and David went back to work and left Tucker and Kristy together, They looked awkwardly at each other, Tucker spoke first,
-"so what do you think of town?"
-"well i havent seen much of it but it seems ok...i guess"
-"my father suggested i show you around town, would you be interested?"
-Yes that would be very kind of you, does 6 sound good?
-"that sounds fine, ill see you later then"Tucker walked back towards his house turning to look at Kristy as he walked away, their eyes met briefly and he snapped his head back around hoping she didnt notie him blush.
Around 6 Tucker walked over to Kristy's house and rang the bell, she came out and they left in Tuckers car for a drive around town. He showed her the school, the movie theatre, where to eat and anything else he could think of about the town hed lived in all his life. they returned home around 9 and returned to their respective homes. Tucker laid in bed that night before falling asleep and thought about his new neighbors. Meanwhile Kristy was sittng at her desk attempting to record the day in her journal but found herself thinking more and more about Tucker, the cute guy next door.
The next day as Tucker was getting ready to leave for work he heard a knock on the door. He opened it and was surprised to see Kristy standing on the stoop. "Well hello kristy, please come in"
He beckoned her into the living room and they sat down. Kristy spoke first this time
- "Look Tucker i was thinking last night, maybe this is a little forward or way too forward, but would you like to do something wiht me friday night?"
-Id love to Kristy replied Tucker all the while wondering how he could be so lucky.Tucker went to work feeling on top of the world. Over the course of the next few weeks the pair dated and became attached at the hip, no one ever saw the one without the other right beside. On a Saturday night after a date with Tucker Kristy wrote in her journal simply "I tihnk i love him"
The school year progressed without incident. Tucker and Kristy became closer if that was possible. Both were applying to colleges and it was a hectic year but they got through it. The pair passed their final exams and prepared for their second summer together. Tcuker awoke the day after school had ended to find his parents still home. He wandered dowstairs and found them sitting at the table,=.
-"Sit Tucker" they said in unison
His father spoker first "Tucker your mother and I have been offered a job in California. Weve accepted, we leave in a week."
_"But wht-!" tucker started to object but was silenced
-"Its already been decided i suggest you start packing"Tucker pounded up the stairs and slammed his door. He looked out the window at Kristy's house and thought of her, she and her family were on vacation in Maine for the week. how he loved her he though to himself. He took out a pen and paper and began to write.
His parents were driving the moving truck while he drove the car.
-"One more minute Dad"
Tucker walked up the the Jackson's door and taped an envelope there and alked back to his car and backed out of the driveway and onto the street.Kristy came home from vacation less than an hour later and saw an envelope on her front door with her name on the front. She took it to her room and opened it and pulled out a sheet of paper and read what was upon it
"Kristy, my parents have taken a job in California, and I have dcided to accompany them and attend school there. Im sorry i could not deliver this in person but i would only have broken my heart even moreso than it has already been broken. Love Always <3 TuckerKristy jumped formher seat grabbed her keys and ran out the door.
"Kristy!" her parents called after her but she didnt not stop. She arrived at the airport and ran through the terminal arriving at the gate just as the plane pushed back from it. She ran to the glass and pressed her face against it feeling the cold surface drain all the heat from her body. She watched until the plan taxied down the runway and was lifted into the air. She crumbled to her knees and sank against the glass with her head in her hands and wept until the sun went down.
aww....you have quite the thing for romance eh?
😄
😛
i could relate to some bits of the story...
🥷
nicely written tho...you seem to have put more effort into this than the others. 🙂
“Oh **** you” Simon yelled as he stepped out the door oh his apartment onto the streets of Boston, his wife Melissa railing behind him screaming: “its always like this! When are you gonna settle down and find a real job! You cant keep leaving me alone all the time just to keep these dumb ass job!” He ignored her and got into his car pulled out of the driveway and headed to Logan.
Simon left the radio off this time as he drove, he needed to sort through his thought. He really loved his wife and he knew she was right about the time away from home but he couldn’t afford to give up his job right now. She’d have to give him more time. He hated when she made a big deal of him going away on business though. It seemed to be happening more and more recently.
Melissa watched her husband pull out of the driveway still breathing heavy and red in the face from her early morning tirade. She hated to yell at him but she was certain he was seeing another woman away from home. She had gone through his things while he as away and found no evidence but she was still sure of her judgment.
Simon sat down in the terminal after what seemed like ages going through the required checkpoints that had been newly installed. He dialed his wife’s cell number and was directed promptly to her voicemail. Of course he thought to himself, she wont talk to me for days after this morning. “Listen hun about this morning you know I don’t like to leave you but I don’t have a choice right now, you know that, so I’m about to board now but I just wanted to say I love you babe” he hung up and boarded the plane.
Melissa heard her phone ring from the shower. The hot moisture helped soothe her after being all riled up after her husband’s brusque departure. She knew it would be him begging for sympathy, how pathetic. After her shower she threw her phone in a drawer where it was out of the way. The next few days passed uneventfully, and before she knew it it was Thursday night and Simon would be returning tomorrow, she half expected him to walk in with another wife every time he came back from his travels but so far she had been wrong. She walked to the end of the driveway and picked up the mail having forgotten to do so earlier. She threw it on the kitchen table on her way by and slipped into bed.She fell asleep that night pondering what she would say to him when he returned.
Melissa awoke early and turned on the TV as she did every morning, she liked to keep up to date on the going ons of the local area and the world. “Weather today will be partly cloudy and 82 degrees” she heard the local weatherman announce as she stifled a yawn. She changed the channel and her attention returned to the screen as she caught site of a breaking news story just unfolding. Apparently there had been a car accident on the freeway. She stood up and went to the kitchen for breakfast. She sorted through the mail and picked out and oddly shaped envelope addressed to her from Simon. She opened it and found a CD inside, curious, she put it in the stereo and hit play. She heard Simon’s voice clearly, he had a singing voice that could melt anyone’s heart on the spot: “Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and all the things you do, yea they were all yellow….your skin, oh yea your skin and bones, turn into something beautiful you know you know I love you so you know I love you so. Look Melissa I know we had some arguments earlier this week but tonight I want you to look up into the sky and know that I love you more than anything in the universe.” It was then she heard her phone ringing ever so softly from the drawer. She picked it and sat on the edge of the bed looking at the TV at the same time, “Hello?”the voice on the other end began slowly, “Melissa Brookstone?”
-Yes…
-We have some very bad news…
She looked at the TV and suddenly she understood. She whispered through the phone “I never even got to say goodbye…” and all went silent.
