Rockstar's latest lets players experiment with same-sex make-out sessions; ESRB says that content was considered in assigning the game a T-for-Teen rating.

Rockstar Games' Bully has been the subject of controversy since it was first announced more than a year ago. The game shipped to retail last week after a failed 11th-hour attempt by Florida lawyer Jack Thompson to have it banned.

However, the controversy surrounding the game might not be over with just yet. In navigating the angst-filled halls of Bullworth Academy as 15-year-old Jimmy Hopkins, players can participate in some extracurricular tonsil hockey with significant others. But while these significant others are typically female, there's at least one other boy in the game whom Jimmy can successfully court, as documented by this in-game video from GameBrink.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board surprised some people last month when it issued a T-for-Teen rating for the game. The content descriptors listed for the game on the ESRB's Web site are crude humor, language, use of alcohol and tobacco, violence, and sexual themes. When asked about the boy-on-boy make-out sessions, the ESRB told GameSpot, "That content was considered in the assignment of the rating."

Thompson addressed ESRB president Patricia Vance in an e-mail he claimed to have sent to "every major news organization in America and the UK," as well as a host of lawmakers and industry representatives.

"Dear Ms. Vance," Thompson wrote, "We just found gay sexual content in Bully, as Jimmy Hopkins makes out with another male student. Good luck with your 'Teen' rating now, Patty."

A representative from Bully publisher Take-Two had not responded to a request for comment as of press time.

Apparently, violence and guns are okay for Teen Rating...but a boy making out with another boy constitutes an M-Rating....

This is why I love rockstar, they make great games and know how to piss of the dumbasses like Thompson and others.

But yes, it is a sad commentary on our society when people find violence and death acceptable for teens, but the expression of love is seen as dangerous and vile.

This is funny as hell. Violence and depravity are ok, but no sex? Whatever happened to make love, not war? 😆

I just feel the whole concept to be utterly stupid. Sex in video games? Like WTF? I'm not paying nearly $50 to watch a bunch of pixels rub agaisn't each other. I'd rather take the money and buy me a porn video and that's it. Bully is so damn overrated anyways. Nothing inovating at all. Besides, what's the big stinkin deal of two males having a relationship in a video game? There is been other video games with this same sex relationships theme in the past. Why make Bully sucha big hype? Bah! waste of time indeed.

They don't even DO anything. They just make out for like five seconds...there's no sex....

Have you played the game? It's supposed to be very very good, gotten great reviews across the board.

But yes, what is the big deal about to males kissing? I dunno, I have no idea why it's such a big deal, ask dipshit Jack Thompson and others like him.

Seriously, Mr. Thompson? You're dead. You blew your career trying to kill a game for content it didn't even have. So now you're trying to make up for it by, once again, blowing everything out of proportion and shouting "OMGMANSECKS!!!"

Who the hell cares? It's obviously optional for those who don't like it, and it's not even big enough to cause a stir by itself.

I hear in GTA4 you play as an AIDS infected gay haitian who molests children and kills people by pricking them with an aids infected needle. One of the minigames is cutting your skin so that you can bleed all over the needle, making it infected.
