How Fast is Thor?

Yeah that thought did cross my mind...and I see your point.. 😛

His reflexes are definitely greater then 1/2 the Speed of Light...

😉

Sure, I believe he has greater than 1/2 lightspeed reflexes, just not FTL reflexes.

Him saying he sees lightning in slow motion sounds as vague as Thor saying he's as swift as the lightning he commands.

What's vague about it?

He dodged lightning as if it were just that: in slow motion. If you're reflexes were slower than light speed, good luck trying to do that.

You're reaching now.

He didn't dodge it. It struck the thing on his back, just it would to any rod sticking up. Nothing amazing abut lightning striking a metal rod that's high in the sky.

He had to time the strike just perfectly. He used his reflexes that apparently make lightning look like it travels in slow motion in order to do so. He wasn't just travelling up there half-assed.

Timing isn't necessary to have lightning strike a rod. All he had to do was fly up where the storm was.

You have to look at it in context. He had to have lightning strike at the perfect moment. It had something to do with saving that little boy, I believe. Moreover, he used his "lightning is slow motion to me" reflexes in order to accomplish it. 🙂

And this all goes just back to it being really vague, almost as vague as Thor's "swift as lightning" comment.

No, there's quite a bit of a difference.

Superman couldn't have accomplished what he did if it wasn't as he claimed. There's actual proof there... context. Without seeing the lightning in slow motion, he never would've timed it perfectly.

Thor just rushed by some chick and proclaimed that he's as fast as the lightning he commands. No proof, no context, no basis for comparison. NOTHING.

Also, why do you believe Superman would lie to himself?

What did he time for exactly? Looks like he just let the lightning strike it at any ol' time. Like I said, it came off as more the lightning doing what it always does than him displaying FTL reflexes.

He had to have the lightning strike at the perfect exact moment, because it had something to do with the little boy IIRC. He had to time the strike of the lightning, as per his own words.

This is why I say it's vague in the first place. He had to time it for some unknown reason or apparently something bad would happen. That's not much context to begin with and can easily go back to the fact he just flew up and had lightning strike the metal rod.

What happened afterwards?

Superman certainly couldn't dodge Captain Marvel's lighting in Kingdom Come.
And why has this thread turned into how fast Superman is?

A he did was fly in the sky and have lightning strike the rod attached to his back?

Because, while the thread is about Thor, the thread was spawned because the question was posed as to whether Thor could evade/react/combat a speedblitz from superman.

Are you really that blinded by your Thor addiction that you'll take any and every chance to discredit Superman's speed/reflexes, even by ignoring context and actual evidence?

1. Superman had to time the strike JUST PERFECTLY in order to save the boy. It wasn't just flying up into the sky and letting it strike. He had to use his reflexes to make the lightning strike at the perfect exact moment. His reflexes let him see lightning in slow motion... FACT.

2. Superman is MUCH faster than Thor has EVER been. PERIOD. Your persistence in driving this issue is not only fanboyish, but it's downright idiotic.

3. Stop hyping up Thor's speed. You clearly show a lack of logical reasoning when you interpret scans that depict Thor's speed. Not only that, you have pretty much nothing to go on with your notion of him being this extraordinary beast in the speed/reflex department.

You seriously need to get over the fact that Superman is >>>>>>>>>>> to Thor in terms of speed.

Rant over... for now.

If Thor truly did travel New York City in a heartbeat, asuming the heart beats approximately 60 times per minute, he would have been traveling roughly 48,240 mph, which is just short of 70 times the speed of sound, or Mach 70. Furthermore, this is roughly 1/13,902 of the speed of light.

Just for reference purposes. 🙂

No, it wasn't. Go back and look at the first post.
I've already called for scans to show Thor's running speed, and no one has come through yet. Because he could be faster than others are giving him credit for.
Nonetheless, minus Thor's teleporting ability, Superman is superior to him in overall speed. This debate should end already.
