ITS AWESOME!
Well, I guess you and have a difference of opinion...but you and i also very different in age....but I didn't like the movie at all...just thought it was one big mess.....and I didn't even think Johnny was up to par..now don't get me wrong...i think johnny is fantastic..but if you compare him to POTC 1 and 2..i just felt it was not the same.....although i must say that AWE was funnier than DMC.....at certain parts....i just thought they tried to cram to much into three hours...and then left alot of things out on top of that...so they should have extended this to a part four to begin with......somehow....i don't know.....i just felt that they had too much story left to tell in such short time....they should have timmed DMC down...like left out the cannibal island stuff and the stupid dice game scene.....
But then again...i will give it the benefit of the doubt....perhaps if i saw it again it would grow on me...cuz to be honest I didn't fall in love with POTC 1 until after seeing it about 3 times..and then DMC...twice...the first time I saw POTC 1 I didn't understand anything that went on..especially since I was so focused on Johnny Depp...and then by the third time I watched it I finally caught on to what the whole curse thing was all about, etc....and then with DMC..the first time I saw it, I didn't like it all...but I couldn't get the kiss scene out of my head, so I went back to see it like three days later...and I was hooked from there on out.....but that was because of the Sparrabethness in DMC....to be honest.
"I think that the Willabethers have equal stuff going for them after this movie. But Sparrabeth will always be one step ahead. Even if the movie didn't technically 'END' Sparrabeth, it's so obvious that thats what it's to become. I mean, Jack goes off to find the 'Agua de Vida' while singing 'Drink up me Hearties', and then 10 years later you see a VERY young looking Liz with a son who is the spitting image of Jack down to the hat(who is singing the very same song)? Puh-leeeeze... some one dare tell me Liz was faithful. I think.. NOT.
One thing that I found interesting that we may like to discuss are the Willabeth wedding vows. Hmm.. Analyze this:
Besides the fact that Elizabeth was obviously pressured into what she thought at the time was a good desicion... I have another reason (foreshadowing) why she would not be faithful to her whelp-of-a-husband. The Wedding Vows. Will simply asks If she'll have him as her husband. And she agrees. Elizabeth, on the other hand, Asks Will to have her as his wife in sickness and health (health being the less likely.. haha..). Why is that good for Sparrabeth.. Um.. Lets see. As pointed out multiple times in CotBP, For a Pirate to enter an agreement, you need to specify the terms of the agreement down to every last crossed T and dotted I. (Barbossa was a perfect example of that when Elizabeth failed to ask him to bring her to port, and Will forgot to specify where to release Elizabeth.. LOL) Elizabeth, at that point in the movie, is very much the Pirate King. Will FAILED to ask the remainder of the vows from her. In sickness and Health? Promise to Love and Cherish? Until death?? He simply asks her to be his wife. Of course, being a wife should naturally come with the agreement to love and honor.. so forth and such and such. But.. hello... PIRATE. They did get married, but fate seemed to intervene again when Will became the CotFD and thus separated the two married persons. I doubt they were ever meant to be."------someone
I'll take that dare. I'm all for sparrabeth. I wish it would have happened that way. But that's not what was onscreen. I'm sorry, ladies, but other than a deep friend/sibling kind of love between Jack and Liz, the writers have her choose Will full-heartedly.
1. Why Liz looks so young: It is very hard, I would think, to use make up to make a 22 year old look like a 32 year old, especially if the clothes don't change that much. Keira did what she could with the last scene, changing her gait a little, adding more motherly looks. If you want to believe Jack gave her some of the Fountain of Youth, you can, but there is a lot to assume, such as does he actually find it?
2. Spitting image of Jack? Explain.
3. Elizabeth "pressured" into marriage vows: Will ASKS her. He does not force her in any way. It is her idea to have Barboss marry them.
4. Faulty vows? Now, I'll compromise slightly here and say that if the desire for Elizabeth to cheat on Will ever happened, she would justify it with the fact that that was not part of her actual vows. But, and I hate to say it, all of the major things she has done throughout the series have been for Will. She burned the rum for Will, she accepted James' proposal to save Will, she freed the pirates for Will, she hijacked the ship to find Will, the writers admit in the commentary that the compass pointed to the chest the whole time (to save Will), etc.
I know, I know, it sucks. It's great to use imagination and interpret things. Just don't say the writers meant it to happen that way. Everything in this post would have been fine if you had said, "I believe" in front of it.
It's not that.
The whole concept about love conquers all crap wasn't intended in the script.
What I have read, it was intended to make it more as in choices to make, and what a man can do and what a man can't do.
What I read from the novel and script. It showed more of a love story turned into Casablanca with J/E.
In the movie, they were trying to push W/E in the spotlight and Jack aside.
But, think about it. If Elizabeth was full heartedly throwing herself to Will, why she hesitated at the beginning?
And I do feel he was pushing her. True enough that after one more attempt from Will she said yes, but why in the middle of a battle. Especially after one moment "I can't trust you" crap then the next "marry us!"
Anyways what was she about to do at that precise moment? Jack wants immortality. She assumes that Jack doesn't want her. Norrington died, so why not say yes to a man who she knows loves her. Not saying she doesn't love him in return.
But I wonder if the decision that was made was right but for the wrong reasons.

That reminds me of a quote from CotBP!!! Governor Swann says it to Lizzie.. Something like "I think you made the right decision today. But, even a right decision made for the wrong reasons, can be a wrong decision."
