first come Jack, Sparrabeth is hot 😮‍💨
then there's AWE and Sparrabeth is Not???!!!mad2

Kick 'em to the curb, no mercy no quarter--

Take what ye can, give nothing back!!

Explanations are like feet, every one has some and they all stink!

Oh, and remember"we were reared better than that and we don't have to be on their level..etc etc." although for my very small part, please remember fair only refers to people with blonde hair and blue eyes, not the condition of human life or what comes next. Love you, Imperial D!! Have a smooth ball on Tuesday!! Remember protein snacks sustain energy--do you have a voice recorder?? Take your toothbrush. Where can we get a transcript? HAVE FUN 💃 , from your dutch Irish Tia (aunt), Texgodiva2s--your strength is the STRENTGH OF TEN because your heart is pure!! Enjoy 😆 , celebrate, don't ❌ get incarcerated blowup, we could eventually raise the bail, but it won't be pretty. 😱

And to you Savvy, I can know because you let me look over your shoulder, by your acceptance of me, you allow me to enjoy who you are how you are and what a smooth hoot that is. It's a good thang this sharing of thoughts--although I feel like I get so much more becos I'm learning to play in this space. I'm way into "Girls just wanna have fun", I am, I can, I will, TODAY! And if I don't, I am certainly not embracing my inner pirate. More's the pity.

What is it in Elisabeth we see in ourselves that so dedicates Sparrabeth, affirms it beyond rhyme, reason, sanity, fact, or faith or is the question what is it in Jack we see in ourselves....my curiosity is up now...is this a part of it or do we just want one "perfect" love in the world?

I see some of Liz in me, some of Jack. I love these characters so much 'cos I understand those feelings they have. Like Liz, I long for freedom in my heart yet my mind tells me it's impossible becos' of my reality. I'd love to just get up and go, anywhere, anytime but I've commitments, how can I just let go? If I do let go, I'll be full of guilt. And like Liz, I find it hard to communicate how I truly feel for fear of hurting people.

As for Jack, he seems to run away or tries to find a way out whenever he is confronted with a problem. I totally do that a lot. Jack also represents freedom, a bit devil-may-care, which I find so attractive in a man. Unfortunately, the reality is that such a man may not want to settle down permanently. I would love my lover to be less repressed and uptight yet I don't want him to take off and go anytime.

Jack and Liz's relationship is an idealistic one in a fantasy world. Sparrabeth touches me greatly as it is something I wish I have but I know I can never have even though I may have experienced it somewhat before. So, I want it to remain there, in another time, another place. Take it out into the real world, they would both get hurt many times over. I wouldn't want that.

I also think people like to see the "bad boy" fall in love. It seems like they are a more worthy catch because it takes more for them to fall in love in the first place. It kind of puts them in their place, too, humbles them. So I think that's why we all want Jack to be with someone. And then when you have a girl like Liz, who is strong and tough and skilled but yet mostly keeps her emotions to herself, the chemistry goes wild because then they become something the other has never been with before. It's a more challenging love story to watch.

I mean, the first time you saw Star Wars, did you really want Leia to get with Luke? Forget the fact you found out later they were brother and sister. People wanted to see a badass like her end up with Han Solo. Or an even more contemporary example: That 70s Show. When Jackie got with Hyde, I went wild because it was the exact kind of relationship I like to watch.

In addition, I like watching sparrabeth simply because smiles are contagious. It's a fact that we take on the facial expressions of people we see. In almost every scene they are both in, either Jack or Elizabeth (or both) are smiling, and there is actually very little smiling in POTC. They can bring a smile to each other's faces. I'm sure willabethers will say that Will and Liz make each other smile. But it doesn't seem the same. Will and Liz smile because they see the other one is alive. Jack and Elizabeth smile because they can bring it out of each other. Even when they tell each other goodbye, neither one can fight a smile breaking out across their beautiful faces. They make each other happy.

I have to agree with you PirateDiva......never have I seen a movie where the wrong couple ended up together...and therein lies my disappointment with AWE.......DMC gave us so much hope and potential and AWE left us thirsty and empty........By all means...stomp your feet and raise your voice and shake your fists at Ted and Terry and tell them that all Sparrabethers need to know what in the world went wrong...

Why did fate intervene? Why was it such a curious thing? Why did they imply that the compass pointed to Jack each time Elizabeth held? Why was Jack so vexed by Elizabeth that he lost sight of the things that mattered most to him...freedom, eternal life and the Black Pearl - yet, nothing came of it? Why did Elizabeth move in for that second kiss if all she meant to do was distract Jack, he'd already been distracted, she had chained the besotted fool (so, he seemed after what THEY did to him), so why did she want to kiss him again and why did she seem so angsty about it? Why did Elizabeth's dress sink to the bottom of the ocean as if her old life was sinking and then up walks Jack? What in the world was the point and purpose of the entire Curiosity Conversation????? So many questions, so many unanswered questions? and oh yea....just what was the mark Jack left on Beckett? And why did Norrington have to die.....why couldn't he have turned Pirate again....and join up with Jack and crew?

Okay, I'm going crazy here thinking of all these questions!!!!!

To Freedom......Sparrabeth forever and you are so right- they were of the fantasy world, which is what movies and entertainment are suppose to be about....to help us forget about our lives for awhile......Jack and Elizabeth represented for us a type of passion and relationship we would all like to have....but will never be possible.....

And Willo...you hit it right on the nose...the bad boy's heart being captured. It's the same with romance novels...that's what makes them so interesting...the rogue who says he will never be owned by a woman falls inlove with the spitfire....and that's exactly what Liz was....a seemingly proper society girl, the governor's daughter.....but underneath lie a fascination with Pirates, a spitfire...a girl full of fight and gander.....and in Jack we had the womanizing rogue..happy go lucky ....always in search of freedom.....yet finds freedom in the love of a woman......there's just something magical and exciting about seeing a drop dead gorgeous rogue fall in love with the girl...and we secretly all dream that we are that girl who can finally capture and tame that Wild Man.......and that my friends, is the jist of Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann....for me!

sorry for the double post...but here is something I picked up on the other forum......and Ted and Terry want us to believe that Elizabeth Swann was the main character.......those men are out of their minds....everyone knows that Jack Sparrow is the main character and that without Jack....well......we all know...I don't have to say it...

OOOOO 3 pack..

Exactly guys, I agree with Tigers that we all secretly wish *we* were the one to tame the bad boy/pirate rogue yet not tether him down, explore life, passion, love and freedom together.

To Freedom, you wrote exactly what I've felt about Sparrabeth. Especially your connection with lizzie and the wanderlust. To just get up and *go*, nothing to tie you down, just the wind in your hair, the smell of the earth and the freedom and love of it all singing in your heart - I can only imagine what such freedom must feel like.

In answer to Tex's original question, and similarly to To Freedom's answer, I relate to Jack in one way, specifically the siren call of the oceans. Growing up on the Gulf of Mexico, I've always felt that "call" that brings you back to the sea. I would dream of giving into that call and roaming the waters like Jack or Elizabeth.

Every time I feel myself drifting away from Sparrabeth, I simply fall in love with the pairing all over again. Do I love Sparrabeth because I'm a hapless romantic who simply loves the idea of forbidden love riddled with sexual tension and angst? Heck yeah! Do I love Sparrabeth for the characters passion for life, for a life set by your own rules with only yourself to guide? Complete, absolute freedom? Oh yes... Do I love Sparrabeth because the characters truly know eachother? Because they can see past all the masks, blindfolds we place upon ourselves, because they can really *see* the other? Most definitely. 🙂

Sparrabeth is a dynamic relationship, it is passionate, it feels *real* - its a fantasy relationship, but not fairytale if you know what I mean. The characters are honest about their humanity, the struggles they have, their character flaws. They can see the flaws in eachother and help eachother grow. Jack showed Lizzie her first tastes of freedom, Lizzie helped Jack see that he could be a good man. What I want to know was where was Jack's reward that was supposed to follow? Yes, he got a *hot* kiss-of-death so to speak (Yes, I it was more than that, but I'm just calling it such b/c he died right afterwards) - yet he ended up shipless, woman-less with just a bottle of rum. Ahhhh! Plot-holes of the Caribbean will be the death of me. Thank goodness for fanfics I suppose.

Wow, the longest post I've ever had, lol. Probably 90% rambling an angsty teen, lol

Both W/E & J/E’s relationship start in a Disney way. W/E is the childhood sweetheart thingy, and J/E the bad guy saves the good girl and they fall for each other. And even though both relationships are typically Disney, J/E is much more interesting to watch because you actually see the relationship develop! While W/E we don’t how much of friends they really were, or if Will only had admired her on distance? It’s only implied, which makes the whole relationship less interesting.

The thing that turns me on about J/E is how freely they act and flirt with each other. How they're not afraid or embarrassed to voice their dreams for one another. WE is the opposite, Will could not bring himself to voice his feelings, not until someone else came in the picture and gave him a push. If it was Jack in Will’s place, he and Elizabeth would have been married long before the first movie was over. But because it was Will, it took them a whole trilogy to finally get married. And the absurd marriage lasted only for a few hours. lol 🙄

"sorry for the double post...but here is something I picked up on the other forum......and Ted and Terry want us to believe that Elizabeth Swann was the main character.......those men are out of their minds....everyone knows that Jack Sparrow is the main character and that without Jack....well......we all know...I don't have to say it..."-----lovethemtigers

You know, now that I've seen the whole trilogy, I really do see the coming-of-age story we were meant to see with Elizabeth. She grows the most and makes the transition from girl to adult. The transformation was dramatic and yet subtle at the same time, and the whole trilogy starts and ends with her song, "A Pirate's Life for Me." There's no arguing Jack gets most of the attention and he became the main hero of the story, but even though he and even Will develop, I think the real rites of passage story goes to Elizabeth. We saw her potential in COTBP, got a deeper look into her personality in DMC, and saw her come into her own in AWE.

Miz Savvy, I'm with youse--3rd gen gulf coaster, my first love...the sea . I'm a crab by birth--she is the most seductive element of all. The salinity of the water and my blood, so much the same.

I've been ruminating about Jack and Elisabeth. With Elisabeth, I see all women--how we have historically been restricted and how (like plants who grow up through concrete)we prevail. Our grace: we do love, we nurture, we care for and keep our "families" together, and we are tougher than old cobs when told we cannot do some thing or the other. I wanna be that adventurer--I want to be the KING, I want, and this is delicious, I want to walk that very fine edge to bait the Lion (Jack) with my flirty, girly girl undenible curiosity tease (sexually aware, even if I'm just learning) prowess and then to be able to grab Jack's leg and be a little girl again, protected and honored. GRITS (girls reared in the South) joke about Steel Magnolias, the fragile flowers of the South, that's what I've always liked about Elisabeth. She might not know how to proceed, but she don't back down. Afraid, sad, lonely, lost, frustrated, trapped--she just keeps on keeping on for the ones she loves .

And I wanna be Jack--he's pared things down clean, "what a man can do and what a man can't do". Guilt, modesty, shame, fear don't serve Jack--he won't entertain them if he doesn't have to and yes, he takes those very unusual shortcuts--not to follow the rules of engagement, to take what you can and give nothing back. Man could eat crackers in my bed--and it would be welcome treats. That's who I'd like to be. Just struck me, Jack moves towards those things he desires, not away from the things he fears. That's cool, powerful.

Totally agreeing with you! Most girls like bad boys as they appeal to our primeval instincts which is to hunt, seduce and mate with the alpha male. Much as Disney would like to show Jack as cartoony and flat, Johnny played him to be a lot more three-dimensional. As the trilogy went on, we began to see layer after layer of Jack, right into his soul. He was not just a caricature of a pirate but he was very human, with feelings for other people and who was not just a one-sided badass but could also be a heroic figure. I agree with tigers that Jack is a main character but he is not a stereotypical hero like Will. This makes Jack a lot more interesting than Will, IMO.

But I also think that Ted and Terry did a good job of showing Liz to be the other main character. Throughout the trilogy, she also began to show layers as we were drawn into her secret thoughts and feelings. The show began with her as a kid and it ended with her again with a kid. Jack was the catalyst for her change. They both seemed to push each other into a space where they wanted to see who would reveal their true self.

Ok, enough rambling. LONG LIVE SPARRABETH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no doubt that Jack is ten time, nay a hundred times more interesting than Will Turner...but that's just me.

Oh, I agree that Elizabeth probably grew the most.....but for people to say that Jack stays the same.....well, that's just not true. jack grows and changes too throughout the trilogy...my only complaint that in the end, despite all of his growing and sacrificing and changing.....he ends up in the end just as we saw him in the beginning....all alone by his onesy on a small dingy without his ship!

Elizabeth went from being a governor's daugher to the Pirate King...so of course, she grew. But I still think the trilogy would have been best served if Jack had remained the main focus. I don't understand what went wrong in AWE and I never will.

willo, I know you enjoyed AWE and you came to terms with how it ended....for me....I thorougly did not enjoy AWE and I don't know if I'll ever come to terms with how it ended......

For me and for many other sparrabethers that I chat with on the other forum........it's as if we are still waiting for AWE to come out, and that may be why we can't let go.....it's as if DMC ended and we still haven't seen it's conclusion....because what we saw in AWE can't be real...it just can't.

Maybe someday....someway....somehow....I will put this all to rest......

But perhaps it's just my fascination with Johnny Depp and the gorgeous Captain Jack Sparrow and seeing the way he looks at Elizabeth that makes me not want to let go...........

I agree with you.Usually you don't marry your first love, because it's an idealistic love.Watching your loved one from a distance not really knowing the other.Jack's and Liz's love is more 'mature1 in away. They are not trying to show only their good faces. They are quite open for each other.Elizabeth doesn't have to be a good little girl to be loved by Jack. She can be what she is.Elizabeth realizes the good man in Jack.Pity they didn't end up together.

omg i totally responded to this yesterday but i guess my comment didnt take cause i dont see it 🙁

Anywhoo to answer ur question YES I DID GO TO SEE TED AND TERRY tonight!!! 😱

As a matter of fact not only did i SEE them, I PERSONALLY MET THEM!!!! I LITERALLY STOOD THERE AND TALK TO BOTH OF THEM ABOUT JACK AND LIZ!!! I was beyond surprised that after the meeting they came out to mingle with us!! I MEAN SERIOUSLY, I MINGLED WITH THE CREATORS OF THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN FRANCHISE...THATS BIG and It was trully an honor!!! They both were gracious enough to take pics with me and sign my program with their picture on it.

After talking to both of them i feel like i know them...lol....their creative minds are EXTRORDINARY and they are hilarious! and now I personally have a favorite...TERRY!!! lol...He cracked me up he was sooo funny!! Terry is the sweet, nice and very approchable one and Ted u can right away tell he is really sarcastic so he was a little intimidating to approach at first but once u got him talking he was passionate about his work, nice guys they are!!!

Anywhoo enough with the chit chat i know what ya'll want the SPARRABETH GOODNESS...RIGHT?

Well my dears i have to say that in that aspect of our conversation, which was most of it...lol....it was as frustrating as their commentaries of the DVD's...lol...i didnt want to make it seem like i was an angry Sparrabether (which i am) cause i knew that debate would have gone awary so i said "It was interesting the way you guys made Jack and Elizabeth seem like they were going to end up together, but they didn't, why?" Their answer not exactly cause i cant member all the words but it was specifically with DEAD MAN's CHEST, "The movie had 3 story lines Jack's Story, Elizabeth's Story and Will's Story. Their stories overlapped when they were in each others presence. (when they said that i was like ok what does that have to do with my question but Ted continued) So with the movie having 3 story lines it was already breaking the 3 act structure that Movies usually follow. So if u sat down watching the movie believing the movie was going to follow this normal patten u were gonna be in for a big disappointment, thats why DEAD MAN's CHEST didn't do so well with the critics because it didnt follow the normal pattern of a Movie. So if you thought Jack and Elizabeth were going to end together because you saw their relationship grow throughtout COTBP and DMC and because thats one of the rules of movie making then yes u were going to be disappointed, because we didnt follow the rules. RULES ARE MORE LIKE GUIDELINES ANYWAY (<--he actually quoted the movie...lol) In the end it was suppose to be nothing more than LUST! but the movie was open to interpretation. 🙁 (trust me they explained it better)

My heart sank when Ted said that! So in the end i was sad by their answer, I really do think they didnt intend for Sparrabeth to get that big and that is why they toned it down for AWE at least what was left to shoot and took out what was already shot! 🙁

But even though im sad about what they told me it still doesnt make me any less of Sparrabeth Fan I LOVE THEM TO DEATH STILL....I dont think Ted n Terry know they broke a heart tonight but they did..... i heard it straight from the WRITERS MOUTHS not on-line, not on some myspace, but directly from them!!

But Alas My heart will go On Loving SPARRABETH!! 😍 We Must Never Forget that if Ted and Terry were normal Writers Jack and Liz would have ended up together!! 🙂

Oh and FYI PIRATES 4 is in the WORKS!!! and NO IT WONT BE A PRE-QUAL! Terry said they wouldnt work on another Pirates movie if Johnny wasnt Jack Sparrow and apparently he's on-board...right now they are trying to work out the budget and once its fixed PIRATES 4 is a GO!!!! 😄

It was funny too cause that was a question asked by someone in the audience, if it was going to be a pre-qual:

Terry: OK Pirates 4, do u guys want it to be a pre-qual?

Audience: (in unison) Noooo!

Terry: Ok based on what u guys said here TONIGHT, PIRATES 4 will not be a PRE-QUAL!!!!!

LOL...I had a say in the next Pirate Movie...lmao!!! But i think its cause they already have something else in mind...hehe!!

Pictures anyone?

to elaborate on this^^ in a normal Movie Elizabeth would have left Will for Jack, because thats the relationship we saw grow. When COTBP was introduced the first romance was introduce as Will and Liz by showing us when they were kids, so we automatically knew the who was who's love intrest and we knew their bond! So we knew Liz and Will loved each other it was there in the back of our minds. But when Jack and Liz were introduced thats the relationship they chose to show us. Jack and Liz grew together on screen cause most of COTBP and DMC they were together, we saw them interact, we saw then hang out together! We didnt get much of Will and Liz development because we were suppose to know their bond in the back of our minds. Then Jack and Liz much anticipated kiss all that sexual tention they had building up from when they very first met, finally was placed into action yet was released all in the same kiss, thats why there was so much passion. They kissed as if they knew they would never have another.

So if Ted n Terry would have followed the normal pattern of a movie, then Liz would have left Will for Jack because thats the relationship we saw DEVELOP in front of our very eyes!! Its the relationship we all fell in love with! 😍

SPARRABETH PRIDE FOR LIFE!!!!

OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PIRATEDIVA!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm hyperventilating!!!!!!!!!!!! Screw T n T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were not dreaming!!! Sparrabeth was real!!!!!!!!

POTC 4 - yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though they broke my Heart..lol...It was still an Honor meeting them!!! I can't believe i spoke to them in an Intimate enviorment (sp?) that was not a premiere and more a one on one conversation! Now If only i can get Johnny Like that *has dreamy face and thinks about it for a minute* Oh Right! back to topic...I will never forget 2night!! It was still a very amazing experience getting to know TnT a lil better and very rewarding as well!

LOL...Terry didnt turn off his phone and it rang and he answered it, it was his agent Brian, and he had a very mysterious conversation out loud into the mic but was careful not to reveal details all he said was, "Ah, so they liked the script, thats good!" when he hung up, Ted asked Terry, "did they go for it?" and Terry nodded yes. then Ted said to us, "Ha, and you guys can't know anything!!" and he laughed. What a tease!!! lol...anywho this is Terry looking at his phone before he answered his phone!

And Ted and I! Sorry i blurred my face i didnt have make up on and I looked a mess...lol!

Terry and I!

It was still a great night!! and they kept mentioning www.wordplayer.com lol...i thought it was funny!!

PIRATE DIVA!!!!! WOW! *huggies* Thanks so much for bringing us this! While it saddens my heart to know that Sparrabeth was never meant to be, I know iniside that it will always happen - does that make any sense, lol? Pirates 4? YAYS *whooops and dances*
