Miz WilloftheWisp--I'm a'feared you're right--just dumber than a box of rocks--of course, I've been known to put my foot in my mouth a time or two--usually I can eventually figure out that this awkward position doesn't gain me much of anything. You sometimes surprize me when with your directness--I admire this ability you have--it is a behavior I must practice to enjoy in myself. Your identification doesn't ever appear with any emotion (no malice, fear whatever), just a simple statement. I really like that approach.
Ha ha, tex, I guess that's because I can at least respect the willabeth and norribeth ships. Unfortunately Will and Liz's "marriage" reminds me so much of my own at times...but unlike that one, I'm actually married to someone sexy. So I have to stand up for sticking through a marriage no matter what. And then there's James who is just the best guy in the world.
But sparrabeth...that is a gem. They can be everyone's wildest fantasy and at the same time, model a realistic couple in our own time period. If only.
I just finished watching Casablanca (a periodic tradition, just to remind me of the insane beauty of life) and as always, its like the same ending as AWE... except I do like Victor better than Will. But then, Jack and Elizabeth will always have The Mast...

Sometimes I wonder about the "good men". Certainly that's not where Jack started in PotC. He came on as such a goof, a buffon--then the fabulous dive (and that right there, hotness inc.). Then he's all grateful to Elisabeth for her kind words, a heartbeat, a "finally" and boom he's the wolf with the lamb...We have no clue that he's saved that one shot and will continue to do so, only that he has his pistol at our dark haired darlin's head. Probably the best thing after that particular manuevr, since Elisabeth certainly appeared ready to rip his head off.
So, Miz WilloftheWisp, did you decide when you were 11 to marry Mr. WilloftheWisp? I'm intrigued now....

I think ever since COTBP, little by little is learned about Jack. I think the first clue is that he saves Elizabeth, which is the film's way of showing us he really is a good person deep down. He keeps revealing more about himself that deepens his character, like the one bullet he has saved, and that according to Gibbs, being betrayed by his crew really changed him. It made him keep his real self hidden more and the sequels spent that time unraveling him. It's part of why he's such a great character. Johnny really lucked out getting such a sweet role, and the movie lucked out getting such a deserving actor.
PS: Slightly off-topic, but I need to warn my peeps...do NOT see Strange Wildnerness. I saw it tonight not really knowing what it was and it was hands-down the WORST movie I've ever seen. Stick with POTC.
