Wow, folks. I don't know if it's just the song or what, but watch this and it makes the whole series seem so dream-like. It's beautiful. Diva, read what? I'm confused. But watch the video because it's beautiful.

Finally! Someone else has heard the beauty of "Love Changes Everything" and applied it to sparrabeth! Interestingly, it doesn't end with the kiss like a lot of videos do. Instead, I just got this feeling of intense hope, like Jack was on his way back to her at the end of AWE, just like we all know he did.
Not meaning to double post, but have any of you ever been to keeptothecode.com? It's the "official" POTC message board site and I couldn't believe what I was reading. There is a section called "The Two Hornpipes" which is the only place reserved for shipping. Now, you can find anything in there...barbossabeth, norribeth, spumpets (is that what you'd call Jack and the strumpets?) Anyways, I went to the sparrabeth one and surprise surprise, it's the only one on there where non-shippers are arguing with them. Why do they pick on us so? But I thought I'd refute some of their more common arguments to fuel this thread because THE SPARRABETH THREAD CANNOT DIE!
1. "Sparrabethers deny the fact that Will and Elizabeth had sex and had a child together."
Well, not all sparrabethers do, myself included. This got on my nerves because the only sparrabether kept saying it was Jack's kid, blah blah blah. If that's what you think, at least make your argument sound intelligent. But so what if the two had a child together? I know lots of couples who have had children that split up, even split up amicably and still love each other in some way.
2. "Jack can't commit to anything."
Oh bullsh*t he can't. If anything, he over-commits himself to what makes him happy. If marriage isn't his idea of freedom, then he won't commit to it, but that doesn't mean he can't commit to anything. He was a freakin' member of the EITC, which proves he can commit to a job, a pretty nice career, even. He freed the slaves he was supposed to haul which shows he can commit to his principles. It's part of the biggest thing about him he tries to hide: that he's a good person. Next, he loves the Pearl so much he went 10 years without a ship to find it. 10 years is a long time to be a pirate without a ship. Plus when DMC came out, we learned he had Davy Jones zeroing in on him, too, so he had a lot of problems going on and yet he committed himself to finding the Pearl. There are a ton of other examples, too, but I thought these were the biggest.
3. "Getting together with Jack would make Elizabeth an adulteress, and that just ain't Disney."
Neither is prostitution, child murder, soul-selling, excessive drinking, implied rape, double entendres, and actually CUTTING OUT A GUY'S HEART!
It all goes back to whether or not you think Will and Liz are legally married. Barbossa is not the captain of the Pearl, which is the ship Will and Liz are on at the time. With Jack on the Dutchman, captaincy of the Pearl falls to Elizabeth since she is the Pirate King. She orders Barbossa to the helm because he is the most experienced sailor on the ship. She's not turning the ship over to him! If that's how it worked, every time Cotton took the helm he'd be captain. If the monkey took the helm he'd be captain! I think in the heat of the moment, Elizabeth and everyone else forgot this little detail...or else just didn't get how to make a marriage at sea valid.
But if the real issue isn't the adultery but the fact Elizabeth could love someone else while Will is gone, then that's another story.
4. "It's not selfish for Will to expect Elizabeth to be faithful to him since in about 50 years or so, she'll die at sea and they'll have eternity together."
Oh, so now we can name the time and place that we'll die? True, as the Pirate King, Elizabeth will probably be at sea a lot, and she'll probably be in a lot of battles. But anything could happen to her in her action-packed life. What if she is just walking from Point A to Point B and someone whose ship she raided recognizes her and just decides to shoot her in the head? She dies on land and that's that. Willabeth is no more.
5. "Why would Jack love someone who killed him?"
I had to think about this one. Of course, I have my own ideas that I put into my fic, but I can understand the toughness of this one. If a man did to a woman what Liz did to Jack, we would all think the woman a masochist if she had feelings for him, but yet when it's the other way around, it's romantic. Double-standard aside, Jack seems to be a very forgiving person. Consider the fact that he has a SAD look on his face when he sees the kraken's body. It was just following orders, was the last of its kind, and was feared by all. Now it lays dead and if a kraken killed me, I'd burn the thing and spit on the ashes, but Jack looks sad, like he's able to relate to it. Next, to quote him, 4 people have tried to kill him, not just Liz, and yet he seems to forgive Will completely, and has a strained, but not vengeful relationship with Tia and Barbossa (forget the fact that he and Barbossa actually fought to the death in COTBP...) When Barbossa double-crossed him, he spent 10 years looking for him, saving a bullet for him. Yet with Elizabeth...well, you've seen AWE. He doesn't act like he's very mad at her for very long. It's like when Norrington and his men captured him. He wasn't mad at them. "They were doing what was right by them." I think he feels that same way about Liz. If she had killed him for money or something like that, yeah, I think he'd get over her pretty quick. But her reasons are much more complex.
This is your chance, ladies! Tell us the stupidest, most backward reasoning why sparrabeth is no good and willabeth is so great and refute it!

I had savvysparrowluv make mine and she talked me through it. If you go to one of the sig competition threads, you can see the people who know how to make them and you could request they make you one.
Just a heads up, try to avoid multiple posting because it's easy to get that out of hand and the mods will be on you.
Hee hee, your enthusiasm is contagious. Yeah. See, I like Will as a character, but the idea of him and Elizabeth together just doesn't do anything for me. I would have liked to have been more "sold" on the idea, if you know what I mean. Like maybe if T&T wrote them actually spending time together, I would have been into them. Oh well.
To be fair, Willo, Sparrabeth can have some pretty farfetched and ridiculous reasons for Jack and Elizabeth to end up together. 😉 Not all reasons, mind you, but I've seen some that make me giggle.
Ok, now to play along....
I've seen one reason that lacks any sort of logic in canon on why Jack and Elizabeth couldn't be together, is that they look ugly together. That quite simply doesn't have the solid reasoning behind it to make it even a slightly reasonable argument.
