Yeah, minor point here, but I felt it was worth mentioning. I'm watching COTBP and it is as good as ever, just loving every bit of it and it's right at the climax where Will's blood has ended the curse. Anyway, we all know that part where we think Barbossa is about to shoot our Lizzie but Jack gets him first? He shoots left handed. I'm a lefty, so I notice when movie character are. In DMC, Elizabeth points a pistol at Beckett with her left hand. I just found it odd that they both shoot left handed but seem to fight with their right hands and be pretty much right hand dominant. Any insight to this, or is this just one more cool thing they both have in common?
Yeah, I know this thread is dying, but I watched COTBP with the commentaries last night and I couldn't believe I hadn't listened to T&T's before. I thought since I had listened to them do DMC that I couldn't learn anything from COTBP...but I couldn't be more wrong.
They said a lot of interesting things, but a few sparrabeth things stuck out to me.
1. During the big battle between the Black Pearl and the Interceptor, yes, they start out all willabeth by saying once again they work well as a team, that Will has taken over as leader of the fighting while Elizabeth is taking control of the ship and the strategy, blah, blah, blah. But then they go to say that they had considered Jack and Barbossa the leads and yet this scene proves that Will and Elizabeth MATCH Jack and Barbossa in knowledge and ability and overall cleverness. So that was cool.
2. Not sparrabethy enough for you? Okay then. One of the scenes T&T really wish would have been left in is peas in a pod, the one time on screen it is blatantly discussed that Jack and Elizabeth have more in common than meets-the-eye AND they have revealed that it is not because of the rum burning that Jack does not quite trust Elizabeth and cannot figure her out. It is because she promised herself to Norrington without telling him the whole truth about the curse (because they both knew he wouldn't go if he did). They thought it was ironic and telling that Jack tried to convince Norrington to go back for the Pearl, almost desperately, but Elizabeth was the one who convinced Norrington to do it. AND the fact that Jack is so unsettled by Elizabeth is what drives him to get her locked up in the cabin on the Dauntless because he feels he can no longer count on her to contribute to his own agenda. Huge!
3. Still not sparrabethy enough for you? At the end when Jack says it never would have worked between them, one of the writers (I think it's Ted) says that one has to wonder how far Elizabeth was willing to go on that island because of her reaction. She has a bit of "shut up" on her face like she feels that if Jack were to keep talking, he would reveal a big secret about them or something. Damn. That's hot and that is exactly how Keira played it. I could never figure out her reaction shot to that sentence, but now I do. She's afraid he picked up on the fact she started to crush on him and is going to tell everyone just when she has successfully broken Norrington's heart and chosen Will.
Now, if those two STILL aren't meant to be, I don't know what to do.
Oh, they're definitely meant to be. I was talking to my friend a few weeks ago, and the topic was about why story lines are so cliche. I have yet to see a good movie where the bad boy ends up with the girl. Why is that? They obviously have so much more chemistry and passion, while the "girl or boy next door" thing is so overused and overrated. I swear, I still have no idea what T&T were thinking. They killed what could have been (and still is) one of the best couples in the history of the universe!
Watching X-Men totally reminded me of Sparrabeth. I am a Jean Grey and Logan shipper, and their storyline is almost (but not quite) as tragic as Sparrabeth. He kills her. Elizabeth kills Jack. I know they have different purposes for those killings, but I've always found it incredible and touching when someone kills someone they love. If you love someone, you do it because you have to...but it makes it so much more bittersweet. Hence, why I love tragic couples. 😉
I haven't seen Grease. 😄 I'm just saying that overall, the best couples (in my opinion) are the ones that don't ever happen. In books, there are more bad boy/good girl relationships that work out, but for some reason, the movies I've seen and love seem to stick with the generic stereotypical relationships. Does that happen to you a lot? I'd like to think I'm not the only one. 🙂

I'm in need of lots of Sparrabeth love right now. I'm making a Willabeth request for someone on another forum, and I just realized what gorgeous screen captures there are in that Willabeth beach scene. 😮 So, I just felt myself falling in love with that scene, and it probably doesn't help that I was listening to "Feels Like Tonight" by Daughtry. I will NEVER love Willabeth....but I'm having some issues right now. Help!!!!
