didn't know where to post this, so I picked this thread...i got this from the W/E thread over at KTTC...this literally made me sick....I guess that's how will fans felt when they read our "bash will to peices" thread...but it's interesting to think that outside of our world, their are POTC fans that actually do not like Jack, like our dear Kenny16:

I don't see how anyone can interpret what happens between Liz and Jack as two people falling for each other.Oh,there is the curiosity,I get that.
But Liz has kissed Jack and killed him.Lust slaked,curiosity gone.
I don't think there will be flirty banter between them in AWE,it will be a lot harsher,especially on Jack's side
I'm such a jack fan it's hard to believe that some feel Jack got what he deserved...I wonder why some cannot see Jack for who he really is, who the writers say that he is.....

I also add my voice to those who say No Curiousity in AWE. I loved the film but there was so much OOCness to the whole Love Triangle arch that I cringe whenever I watch the Persuasion and Curiousity moments. Funnily enough, I loved the Kiss of Death. It was poetic justice [to me anyway 😛] that the dear Captain after flirting with the fiancee of the friend he'd duped got 'lucky' with Elizabeth only to realise she'd kissed him to kill him.
and yet another....Poor Jack, so misunderstood....
I'm still surprised that after Jack has acknowledged that Elizabeth can be just as much a pirate as he is that he still manages to fall for her trick.
He's the one suffering from curiosity, not Elizabeth.
I just hate that Will may have to suffer a bit for it too.
After reading this....man on man I want Jack to come out the hero at the end of the trilogy....you know they love to put Jack down...but Will was willing to turn Jack over to Beckett and his compass without getting all the facts, he always makes deals with people ...i;e, Barbossa without thinking it through....Beckett would have still killed him and Elizabeth even he did return Jack and his compass...Jack knows it.....
Plus, Will is actually the first one to break the "friendship" or what was left of it in DMC when he pulls out his sword on Jack.....
But alas, I do dislike that the writers have done this to them, because I was really sad after watching POTC the other night and to think what's become of Jack and Will's friendship....it was so neat at the end of POTC how they worked together to get away from Norrington's men...with the rope and stuff....the way Will smiled when Jack told him "nice hat"...
so, this is a mystery to me....it seemed to end that they were "friends" and when Beckett refered to Jack as Jack Sparrow...Will and Elizabeth were quick to defend him, but then later Will refers to jack as more of an acquaitance than friend....I find it hard to believe that you would risk your life and good standing to simply help an "acquaintance" escape death.....

Why doesn't it make sense? A lot of people are fans of the Harry Potter series without being fans of Harry Potter himself. I'm not a big fan of Jack Sparrow, but I certainly love the Pirates series.
It's not that I hate Jack; I just don't find him as interesting as say, Norrington or Will, because Jack essentially remains the same. Yes, he learns some things about himself, but he doesn't change all that much. He's always been a good man; the only thing he needs to figure out is how to be a pirate without destroying his good side.
Norrington and Will have deeper issues and deeper struggles as characters, and that is more interesting to me than whether or not Jack figures out he can be a decent guy and get the girl.
There's nothing wrong with that post, except that it's not a pro-Sparrabeth comment. 😛
The way I see it, if you like a series with an ensemble of characters such as Harry Potter or POTC, obviously you have your favorites. I think everyone knows I wish Gibbs was my long lost uncle. So I can easily see how Jack would not be someone's favorite character.
However, even people who wouldn't say Harry was their favorite character somehow care about his story, his struggle, and what's at stake for him. Do I sometimes find Harry annoying? Hell yeah, I'm all set for The Adventures of Hermione, but I do care about what happens to Harry and enjoy seeing his maturation.
So in other words, you don't necessarily have to "like" Jack, that was a bad choice of words on my part, but you have to care about him to some degree since he is such an integral part of the series. Is the series really about a trio? Yes. Do you have to care about each member of the trio to some degree? Yes. Do you have to consider each member of the trio your favorite? Nope. I just found the post weird because it seemed to counter that in some way.
yes...Jack is such a vital part...no let me rephrase that...JACK IS PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN...so how can you enjoy going to watch the movies and not care what happens to Jack...I don't particularly care for Will, after DMC and what I've read so far in AWE..but I would hate it if he ended up carving him heart out and being all fish face and evil at the end......that would just be hard to explain to the kiddy fans of the series...just like its hard to explain why Liz would kill Jack....hey Liz flirted back..and you know what...if the only reason Liz kissed Jack was to kill him...then that just makes her just as unlikeable as Beckett and DAvy.....I truly believe the kiss of death was more than that...
