Or since the bible teaches that having Salt is a good thing and she was turned into salt, could also mean that she had such compassion on the cities and looked back, being filled and turned into salt.

As to the fire and brimstone, I don't really know, but sounds like a God smite 😉 Could just be that there was knowledge of a volcano going to erupt and the "Angels" told a select few about it. Would it be smiting if those that didn't believe in God weren't told about imminent destruction?
