Basically, it comes down to this. It's a privately owned website that no one has a right to use.I'm not saying anything about the ban. Just the whole entitled attitude in general that a lot of people seem to have. If rules are broken, you lose the privilege of using the site.
And as someone brought up freedom of speech in one of the other threads - several problems with that. For starters, you have no actual rights or freedoms online, and what you can and can't do is solely up to the owners of the websites you use. Secondly, freedom of speech does NOT mean that you can say whatever you want, and certainly not that you can say/do what you want without consequence.
Also, I don't get this whole mentality you, Vinny, and a lot of other 'senior' members have, where you think that a members status as a person and how much their opinion matters by how long they've been a member. It's stupid, and well, again, pathetic.
Also, I'm not getting into talking about forums with you, since you are very, very 'into' forums, and so know every single in and out of the way they work (supposedly), so there's no point in arguing with a literal know-it-all.

Yeah, I agree you are. You're probably one of the few mods that deserves the respect of the average member.
Freedom of speech, at least how it is used in the US Bill of Rights (which is what 99% of people who throw it around are referring to), simply means that the government cannot limit what one can or cannot say, though there are limits on it (hate speech, 'fighting words', etc).
It does not at all mean that you can say whatever you want without consequences. And when you're online, or in any privately-owned place, it ceases to exist entirely.

I'm actually not much of a forum person. This is the only one I post on regularly (outside of my own). However, I recognize that if you're playing in someone's sandbox, you have to follow their rules. It's not a difficult concept.
And for the record, I hate when someone does something stupid, gets called out for it, and everyone goes "it was a joke!". Make it clear that it was a joke to begin with, then. And don't have a reputation for making comments like that and being serious about it.
