Morrison's animal man run was awesome. I wish they would collect the rest of the series after his run in trades though.

Yep, happened in volume 3, giving a nod towards Niel Gaiman's Sandman series. Back when the two companies were a lot closer.

However, Hell and Heaven have seen retcons since then, and we can only chalk that up to "Corrigan's perception", as defined in Spectre volume 4.

Animal Man = one of my all time favorite series' for sure.

The later runs were still very good, and showcased very impressive Animal Man abilities, [the Universal stuff]...

But Milligan, Veitch, Delano, and Prosser's takes on Animal Man, weren't even close to Morrison's original 26 issues.... imo of course.

Well, it would definately be a tough act to follow. Morrison's was geniusly crafted from start to finish, with the way the story just fell into place. All the odd moments of the beginning of the series just unraveling in the final issues.

Exactly.

Morrison's Animal Man had a soul that few writers can give to a comic character... That's what made him so appealing to me.

In the final issue, Morrison even admits that he used Animal Man and his abilities to voice some of his own personal opinions about the world he lived in --- Genius.

And comics back then weren't quite as feat oriented as they are today... They were more about the quality of the story itself, [another thing which greatly appeals to me].

*makes me want to read those issues again* 😂

Yeah, I read those Morrison trades again just a couple months ago.

They were in AM's first series.... Buddy even asks Morrison if he created them in the final issue. lol

Well I imagine it's part of the Crisis and those Aliens will probably have to rework the matrix or whatever that powers all the animal totems or whatever shit that shroom-head was writing. It's very similar to what happened to Animal as the "Second Crisis" loomed in his title. I imagine this is all being touched on because of Grant being one of the idea guys up at DC now.

Morrison has said himself that he's always had an affinity for Animal Man.
