His character has some potential and though I really don't care deeply for Sentry, I was actually getting into this story....but then here came the "million exploding suns," trash. I mean its just really takes me out of the character. It even sounds like some crack-pot sh*t his creators made up, it doesn't even sound believable, and this is by comic book standards. I don't think writers understand the kind of power that is, I mean if it was one he would still be incredibly powerful, but a million 😬 come on, at least try when making a new character. If really was a million, one punch would destroy the planet, he would have no choice but to kill people when he hit them. There is no way to restrain that much power to the level he is. sorry but its just bullshit writing.

Look at what he told Creel. He DOES have the capability to hold back and does so all the time.

Creel even said something along the lines of "I've never felt anything so powerful." and "Is this what it feels like to be god?"

Creel's absorbed Uru and asgardian energies.

And he considered (what seemed to be) a small fraction of Sentry's power beyond those.

Sentry's pretty high up there. I'm just waiting for him to cut loose and give us some real Superman-level feats. 🙂.

Just to expand on what Soljer said:

The power WOULD be WAY to much for one man to contain, but Sentry's mind (being a few seconds in the future or... something 😕 ) is extremley powerful. If it wasn't, the Void would break free (hence when he was going mental)

It's 'cause of those mental capacity capabilities, that he is able to restrict and limit his own powers.

Notice that, if all of the power was uncontained by the mind, it would destroy a man (hence Creel)

OK genius. Why does paper beat a rock?
The rock could go through the paper, and how does covering something up beat it? The rock could cream the fu ck out of the paper. Make sense of that!
Just something I had to get off my mind... you can tell what state of mind I'm in...

I think that was the whole point though, to show that the vast majority of times, Sentry is holding himself back on purpose so that he doesn't do too much damage. It is similar to DBZ characters, when they aren't amped up, they aren't very powerful, but when they power up fully it takes a universal threat to take them out.

The idea is that Sentry taps into existing power sources, and suns by nature in a way are exploding constantly, he is just telekinetically tapping into the existing power of the area around the earth in the Galaxy and making it his own. In his fight with Genis, it was implied that he had unlimited potential to tap into the existing energy of the universe.

It basically is like a built-in Power Gem, where he can simply will himself more power, to whatever extent he needs to go.

Well with Genis. Everyone ended up hating him because of Fabian Nicieza's terrible wrting on the character. Everyone loved Peter David's Genis. (2000) (2002) He did insane Genis and what not. So when Fabian when he realized he was writing a chracter bad instead of taking him out of his book killed him off entirely. And once again regarding thor I'm just not big on the revolving door that is death in marvel and DC

great ownage

but, ya, I'm pretty sure that the writers are underestimating 1 000 000 exploding suns 😉 I don't know, maybe I just missed the part where all the matter between here and alpha centauri was annhiliated...

Have you ever had a paper cut? They got some straight up gangsta fax machine papers out there so I wouldn't underestimate. Not to mention that rock needs momentum to build up speed while paper could always morph into a jet or a swan.

Paper 7-8/10 ftw

Galactus once feared Thor, stating that if he did not flee he would die at the hands of Thor. This is about as believable as Creel saying he's never feel such a thing as powerful as Sentry's energy. In fact, the writer most likely didn't read Creel's appearances with Thor and Asgard seeing as how he's absorbed godly energies before(Thor) and should already know what the power of a god feels like.

That would imply that Sentry's power is greater than Asgards, which it's not.

Sentry's not on the lv of Thor, Superman, Beta Ray Bill, Silver Surfer, Doc Strange, etc. he beat Absorbing Man, not that big of a deal.

Sounds like Superman lol.

Your in all kinds of denial aren't you. Creel has always been a tough opponent for Thor but Sentry owned him. Like seriously demolished him. And notice Creel asked if this is like what it is to be God. Not like a god (lowercase, big difference). Clearly Sentry's power, the fraction that AM absorbed, was more powerful than anything he had ever felt ie. more power than he ever took from Thor.

To look at the facts and still dispute that Sentry isn't at least on the same level of Thor is ridiculous

He's not the same lv as Thor, Superman, Beta Ray Bill, etc. His best feats aren't even comparable to theirs.

Sentry went toe to toe with Genis who took on Thor.

Demolished a herald of Galactus.

Demolished a villian who normally gives Thor a tough battle.

And you still don't think he's on the same level as those guys? Fact is Sentry doesn't have as much feats as Thor and co but everything that he's done so far since his reintroduction to the MU has at the very least put him on the same level

Genis was holding back, making that fight irrelevant.

Thor and Surfer have demolished Hearld's of Galactus.

Great, still though it's a single feat

Thor's battled and fared well against if not defeated characters such as Galactus, Ego, Mephisto, Hela, Mangog, Zeus, Surtur, Celestials, Stranger, Thanos, Infinity Watch, etc.

Surfer basically does the same as Thor.

Superman's fares well against if not defeats characters such as Darkseid, Doomsday, Mongul, Eradicator, etc.

Defeating a characters who can't even absorb the energy of a planet, doesn't make Sentry these characters lv.

wow. you ARE in denial.

get off the "absorbing the energy of a planet" thing. considering that thor and his hammer, amongst many other top tier beings, were ALSO on the planet, it's not exactly shameful.

genis and sentry were both holding back, and still throwing enough energy to destroy planets (plural). and when sentry said he wasn't going to hold back anymore, genis got out of there as quickly as he could. that fight is far from irrelevant.

on top of it all, the sentry has NEVER had a low showing, unlike thor and...ahem...bullets. so please, just admit that sentry is shaping up to be very much >=thor.

That never stopped Thor from deflecting, and absorbing the null bomb that would have destroyed a 5th of the universe.

How many planets did they destroy on panel? none.

So being hurt by a playing Hulk, or being affected by flames from Iron Man aren't low showings?

By the way, we go by high showings and Thor, Superman's, and Surfer's high showings >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sentry's.
