"I have failed you Anakin... I have failed you.." Was Obi Wan correct ?

After 23 years of evil deeds, Anakin finally did the right thing. But he wouldn't have been able to do the right thing if it hadn't been for those evil deeds.

This would sound a lot better if I didn't already know that the EU brought the Sith back within 6 years of this. F*ck.

I think the real question is "Was Anakin's fall to the dark side a failure?"

Anakin's destiny was to "bring balance to the force." When he fell to the dark side of the Force, it was thought that he wasn't fulfilling his destiny. However, as we all know, in RotJ he was the one to kill the Emperor. Would he have been able to do that as Anakin Skywalker? I don't think so. The only way Darth Sidious was going to be destroyed was by a betrayal from his right-hand man Darth Vader.

Here is the issue:

Which side of the force was more powerful at the Clone Wars.

I see it this way. The Light side of the force was far more powerful than the darkside. If we use the strict dichotomy as a model system, we can see that the Jedi are blasting open the galaxy. THe Sith, while manipulating the Jedi, don't really have that much power.

If the force were to truely achieve balance, BOTH sides have to be eliminated. Anakin first destroys the light, then the dark. At the end of the day, all is equal. No light no dark. No Jedi no Sith. And the force is in balance with itself.

Well thats why I used quotes when saying "bring balance..."

The Jedi saw the complete destruction of the Sith as bringing balance to the Force and it was their prophecy.

Yes. A true misconception about their defintion of BALANCE>

Then there was also when Obi Wan's ghost told Luke "I thought I could train him (Anakin). I was wrong.", in ESB,

Are we getting into the Balance argument again?

NO.

mmmmm i just cooked french toast for dinner lol

NO.

no what?

Obviously he blames himself. But he made a vow to QGJ and the entire Cuoncil, Yoda excluded, had faith in him. So it's a collective failure.

No. The force did it. It made Ani "fail."

It was his Mom's fault. If she hadn't died, he'd be OK.

to Alliance: it was his destiny?

Then it was the Tusken's fault, or no, what about that jawa lurking in the doorway in Mos Espa... or... Cliegg.... or that suspicious looking Gonk Droid from ANh, he looked like he knew more about the whole affair when 3PO and R2 ended up in the Jawa transport... or.. or....

Yes. It was the will of the force.

Then I could say, "Do you really think I was being serious?" And such and such.

And on and on...
