USH'S MATRIX GAME 2006 SECOND ASSIGNMENT- 'The Monastery'

What, the Combat/Philo split wasn't obvious? Monastery, a place of thought, Fortress, a place of war...hmm...

Lo Qi is silent for a few moments.

"I am not sure it would be helpful for you to know who Sennacherib is. Though to answer your question, he is a King because that is what he is meant to be, as much as I am a Monk.

"I see some of you do not seem to fear any danger."

"Fear is not the right word, used to might be better."

"Really? As you know, I have not met any of your type before."

"Used to danger...yeah, Burn would be putting it about right. We all knew this wouldn't be easy when we chose to fight, and I'd say we've probably seen more than most of the others of our type, as you say."

"I see... tell me. Do any of you know Kung Fu?"

"Maybe a little"

Berserker says not knowing what the monk was getting at exactly.

"I know it quite well, actually!" Heph says.

Mors will nod in response to the "Kung Fu" question.

"We are soldiers, Lo Qi. To face danger is our duty."

Melis says that she is proficient with Kung Fu.

"We are all skilled fighters. I myself certainly am and do."

Lo Qi looks around at all of you, before looking back at the one who got the key- Heph. He smiles again, stands, and whips has hands back tnto a high guard.

"Show me..."

Well, I'm going to need your loadout, Heph...

Berserker looks over to Heph
"Have fun man"

"Will do," Heph says, snapping into a very aggressive stance. "Sure you're ready?"

Lo Qi will let you have the first move!

Heph will come at Lo Qi with a solid punch to the chest.

"Who knew I'd be beating up monks when I agreed to be freed..."

Heph strikes! Lo Qi has a viable defence operating and Walking Willow too, so Heph has seven dice. He rolls a decent three successes for six damage, reduced to five by Life's Armour.

You power hard into Lo Qi, who steps back, taking the blow on his interposing arm. Immediately he brings the flat of his palm up to your face. Lo Qi has 12 dice and Heph has no working defence, so Lo Qi rolls 16. Still he rolls only four successes, for seven damage.

My dice should be at 8, since I'm a Fighter...

Heph staggers back a bit, but keeps on his feet and immediately follows up with a chop to the neck. He then performs a kick that connects the top of his foot with Lo Qi's chest with strength enough to send him flying.

Okidokey...

Your HT tap from that round was very good, rolling four successes for six damage.

You spin around with your foot to find that Lo Qi has moved with the momentum of your chop and is literally sliding backwards on the ground with an impossible lack of friction. Your blow goes nowhere- he tapped King on the Water.

Then suddenly he shoots forwards with the same sliding, frctionless momentum and drives into you with a phenomenal roll of nine successes and a bonus, which goes on Healthy Tiger for a total of 14 damage.

"Ow..."

Heph will get a bit frustrated by that and snap a series of punches into Lo Qi's chest and side.
