Little is known about George Washington Bridge's early youth. He prefers to call himself "G.W." to avoid any jokes about the George Washington Bridge. Years ago, G.W. was a highly skilled mercenary, part of the Wild Pack, a group of mercenaries gathered by Cable. Other members included Theodore Winchester (Grizzly), Domino, Garrison Kane and Eugene Eisenhower "Ike" Canty (Hammer). After several successful missions, the Wild Pack was hired by Tolliver, an arms dealer, under the condition that they changed their name; agents from Silver Sable had let them know that the name "Wild Pack" was taken. The team renamed itself Six Pack and went on the mission. The mission turned out to be disastrous: They encountered Stryfe, Cable's archenemy. Cable left the team to pursue his own vendetta, shooting Hammer and sacrificing Kane. Bridge, Domino and Grizzly managed to escape. Kane and Hammer survived, but were heavily injured. Hammer would be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, while Kane would receive cybernetic replacements for the arms he lost.

Bridge joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and worked his way up to Commander. When Cable joined the New Mutants and turned them into X-Force, S.H.I.E.L.D. asked Bridge to investigate the team. Despite the grudge Bridge carried against Cable, he still felt that he owed Cable a warning, but it was ignored. Working with the Canadian Department K, Bridge formed Weapon P.R.I.M.E., a group of superbeings who all carried a grudge against Cable. Weapon P.R.I.M.E. included Garrison Kane, now known as Weapon X, Grizzly, Rictor, Yeti (originally identified as Wendigo) and Tygerstryke. They attacked X-Force, but found out that Cable had just left the team. Unwilling to fight his former teammates, Rictor joined X-Force. Also, Tygerstryke was wounded during the fight and the team fell apart.

G.W. Bridge returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. duty. He met with Cable shortly afterwards and after a short fight, the two made peace. Over the next few years, Bridge would inform Cable and his allies in X-Force and the X-Men on any mutant-related problems S.H.I.E.L.D. encountered. Bridge warned Cable about Operation: Zero Tolerance. When Cable's mutant powers began to dramatically increase, Bridge started to distrust Cable again and formed a new Six Pack, this time funded by S.H.I.E.L.D. to investigate Cable. Cable defeated the Six Pack and convinced several members to take his side, but not Bridge. Shortly afterwards, Cable was defeated by the Silver Surfer.
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Bridge and Domino reappear as they are hired again as mercenaries. Apparently Bridge has left S.H.I.E.L.D[1].

Most recently, Bridge returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. action at the request of Jasper Sitwell. He was contracted to take down Frank Castle, the Punisher. However, G.W. was unsuccessful in apprehending the Punisher, despite cornering him in close quarters. In light of these events, Bridge has resigned from active S.H.I.E.L.D. status because he believes that he will never have the freedom under S.H.I.E.L.D. command to use necessary force to take Frank Castle into custody. He has been immediately re-hired by Sitwell as an independent contractor, feeling this move will give him the proper ability to use whatever means necessary

Anybody else enjoy New Avengers #25? All the NA Civil War tie-ins were quite good for that matter.

Yup. I thought all the NA CW issues were amazing. I can't wait for the next issue though. Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch!

The only problem I've had with Bendis' writing on the New Avengers stuff was that he was writing more about the psyche of the former New Avengers, and not necissarily their views. I haven't read the newest yet.

Really? I've heard a lot of people who have been complaining that Bendis's run is too different from the traditional Avengers. I hope he can strike up a nice balance when Mighty Avengers launches so that all Avengers fans will be happy

More than likely he'll be going the Nostalgia element with Mighty Avengers. What I think is funny is that he tried to suggest that it won't be Stark in Mighty Avengers, yet Stark is the only one who could wear that model of armor shown.

Even so, Bendis doesn't really know enough about the characters in that series to really make it work, unless he does his research. The fact he has Wonder-Man in his retarded old outfit doesn't bode well, and the fact that he's not flying, when he had all of his abilities in the newest issue of Ms. Marvel.

Well Simon's powers have always been fluctuating no matter who's writing it. Maybe we'll get an explanation for his depowerment soon. As for the armour Frank Cho has said that the armour is his own design, he just took elements from different costumes he likes. I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch anyway to find someone who can fill out a suit of armour.

Eh 😬

I would rank them like this...

1. Spider-Woman's
2. Luke Cage's
3. Iron Man's
4. Sentry's
5. Cap's

Seriously, Cap's was horrible. Falcon's dialoge sounded like Hudlin wrote it

But, Luke and Jessica's issues were top notch 😄

Exactly how I'd asses them. Jess and Luke were amazing. Tony's was basically a lead in to him getting a possible appointment as head of SHIELD. I liked the Sentry issue but was dissapointed as I feel we still don't enough about him and nothing big really happened in Cap's issue. Falcon's dialogue was terrible though

I would say:

1. Luke Cage's
2. Sentry's
3. Spider-Woman's
4. Iron Man's
5. Cap's

I have to say I liked Sentry's, and the art was amazing.

Maybe I'm seeing things, but the last page of Punishers War Journal (in the Civil War Scans section) really reminds me of a famous scene in a Daredevil comic : when DD puts the dead body of Nuke on the table in the Daily Bugle.

It's so similar.

Might be a parallel.

SOOO... the topic got started in the Scans thread that the Heroes For Hire are somewhat similar to Charlie's Angels...

Booty and Bionic Arms were the mentioned exceptions... but I also thought that nobody on Charlie's Angels talked to bugs.

But my question in there was also, something about "do the skrulls know what's going on with this organ swapping?"

there colonies are currently being exterminated there in the middle of a war that is using up all of their resources. I don't think they have even noticed with everything thats going on.

even if they did know what the humans were doing with the organs of a few off world agents I don't think they would be able to do anything about it at the moment.

Okay... totally did NOT know that... who's exterminating them? The Kree?

Annihilation wave.

Civil war Question

1. does the superhero registration act apply to poeple who know martial arts or have some from of combat training. i ask this as if a martial arts instructer was to stop a group of thieves, or spots thanos with some powerful end of universe power and gives a roundhouse stoping the universal threat, would that count as him having to sign the registration act. if not then why did they want cap to sign and the heroes for hire guys. if this is not the case then why should they punish some and not others. is it because they saved the world or that they wear custume, or judge on how often they partake in 'super hero activities' which to be honest any normal person could do.

2. if you weren't registered and a hero was to stop some villians be they be human or not will it be invalid meaning the villains can go free.

3. what about the supernatural/ occult, does the registration act effect them.

I believe that normally you wouldn't, like if you are a recreational fighter you needn't register but if you're going to be a hero then you need to sign up.

I'm sure a good lawyer will argue that but I think its a matter of discretion. If this person did something bad and it can't be proven then they'll probably walk. If they were already wanted and you apprehended them then they'll probably keep them and try to arrest you also.

I know in Dr Strange's case Tony said the president was willing to work out some sort of deal with him.

I think the entire aspect of the act now going after anyone who wears a costume is just stupid

Should people who can blow up freakin' cities be registered? Yeah, but signing a piece of paper isn't going to make a difference, when S.H.E.I.L.D already has their file

Grimm, I think the point is to turn these registered super heroes into an on-call service for the government. Not initially, but eventually.
