well you see its not really a RETCON, retcon. its more like an origin story, or a really long version of an annual. its just showing you what t'challa did the first year after he became BP, not revising him alll together and starting from scratch. ever since BP's arrival in the Marvel U, even when he got his own series its just been bullshit stories here and there like Black Panther vs. the Voodoo Brothers (not a real title, but when stan lee was writing it was dumb shit like that) or GNORRK the under ground menace, strikes Wakanda!!! (again, not a real title)so this new look at BP is more of a retelling more than a re-boot, a chance to give you a glimpse of what his regular activities were b4 he joined the avengers and b4 he started to give a damn about anywhere other than Wakanda, in fact, in #10 Luke cage is introduced and you still see him in prison, and how he got his powers and his subsequent escape. they even showed that t'challa has a sister
and in a few issues b4 that Klaw got black knight to attack Wakanda along with Rhino, and a few others. and we all know that black knight was also a member of the Avengers, and this seems to be a pre avengers BK. and even america was poised to attack all in an attempt by both parties to plunder the vibranium. the part i think that is confusing the hell outta ppl is the fact that its not set back in the day, its set in the now. but they changed the names of a few politician, like how the US sec. of state is a black woman named "Rondi".
so if you wanna get your head around it, just think Ultimate spiderman. you see for years we've been hearing that peter has been spidey since he was 15yrs old, but there hadnt been a series of him webslinging AT 15. so the Ult.S. series was to showcase what his life was like at that age. but after the first TPB tho somebody had the idea to make an ultimate universe, and tho they originally planned to make a straight forward version of him, meaning no different looks on established characters they had to scrap that whole idea and start over.
so its almost the same thing with this BP now, its just telling you his origin, but its not a flashback..its almost like its playing catch up with the rest of the MU 😎
Hey, thanks a lot, man. I appreciate it.

I'm not sure if that's correct. I always thought Bendis was planning on a re-imagining of Spidey from the start. I mean, the differences between 616 and Ultimate are already present in the first arc or two of Ultimate Spidey. 😬
hey i here ya, but the point was still to show spidey at 15. i didnt mean to make it sound like they were trying to make an exact replica of 616, but only younger

Oh, okay. I see now.
I thought you were saying it was supposed to be an actual "documentation", per se, of Spidey when he was 15 (as in, the 616 universe).

I just recently read issue 2 (of Civil War) and I thought it was great. McNiven's art is simply amazing; I remember reading it and going, wowm this reads just like a movie. I have a feeling this is one event that will live up to it's hype. Unlike the letdown that was House of M.
House of M was definitely a disappointment...
It was much like OWAW though . It was meant to be a one group/character comic. Instead their respective companies decided to flesh it out.
Unlike OWAW though it was also a cheap way of clearing up all those 'Mutants' that were crawling out the woodwork.

This exactly correct... The first couple issues were just to kind of tell you the origin all over again of BP so people could get to know who he was, and where he came from. The next couple of issues specifically the invasion on Wakanda mini, and the trip to New Orleans mini were pretty much written so people could know hoe badass, smart, rich, and freaking awesome he is. The last couple issues, i would say from 13 on... its started to get into current continuity with the whole marriage to Storm thing and the Civil War tie in.
Some good stuff headed our way.

Agreed, but i want to see the cover for Spiderman's War at Home arc in October... wonder why they haven't released it. Maybe it contains spoilers.
