i would say that there is enough space for superman to attempt a speedblitz and fail. that seems like a good amount of space. or how about enough space for a more versatile, more powerful, smarter, more experienced character than superman who has faced many foes who make superman look like a chew toy, to destroy superman? does that sound liek enough space?
if superman was dumb enough to attempt to fight thanos head on, he would more than likely try something like a speedblitz hoping that his only imagined method of surviving would work, but sdly it would fail and superman would proceed to be knocked out and killed/minionized by thanos.

So you think Thanos is just going to let Superman grab him and fly him off somewhere and Thanos would not just shove his Hulk-sized fist into Clark's head and k.o.ing Superman? He unleashes omnidirection blast and Supes is fried for grab him.
