1. The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work
2. Robbie Williams - Angels
3. Elton John - Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word
4. Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
5. Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
6. Will Young - Leave Right Now
7. Elvis Presley - Are You Lonesome Tonight?
8. Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
9. James Blunt - Goodbye My Lover
10. Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees

I disagree with the list becuase Janis Ian Seventeen should be in the top 10.

The drugs don't work sounds like a really, really, really sad thing.

The study was done in England and that song was popular when princes Di died. I think that’s the main reason people reacted so sorrowfully, because I don’t find the song that sad when compared to seventeen

Oh, i don't read anything except for the list and not even that fully. I thought it was your list. Oh well, I will look through the link. Anyways, drugs not working is a very, very evil thing.

I hate it when the drugs don't work. It makes me want to set my dog on my dealer.

"The Drugs Don't Work" is a beautiful song, but it's mostly about his father, not so much about drugs.

So, no Gilbert O' Sullivan? "Alone Again (Naturally)" is about as depressing as they get. You want sad, what about "Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill?

Do you expect everyone to have the same saddest song, then?

I don't think that is the reason they have voted The Verve's song at number 1 anyway, because Elton John is in there, and if it were propelled by Di sentiment, they'd have voted for that piece of shit he released around the time.

What kind of 'sad' are we talking about? Like crying sad, or oh-dear-why-did-you-do-that sad?

If it's the former, then the Verve's song is pretty, if it's the latter then Christina Aguilera should be sodomised.

As for me, I think Colors by Amos Lee is sad. So is If I Could by Jack Johnson.

I'll gladly sodomise Christina Aguilera, just give me the chance.

Dear god, please give me the chance.

Shutup Backfire 😉

Only after I butt stab Aguilera.

😂

I still find it a great injustice that Robbie Williams is alive, and another worthwhile musician will probably die before he does.

I'm for him getting the chair as a result of that song. I'm entirely serious.

I concur. Although I would like him to be tortured more than a little before he gets the volts...

I first dibsed it.

Although I'd take seconds.

Robbie Williams is a good musician. That song is beautiful.
