You can have your differentiating opinion on Saw 3... but Babel? The film that's received the most Golden Globe noms so far? And is an incredible masterpiece? The best movie I saw this year by a million miles was Miami Vice; it was just so effortlessly cool and stylish. It was also very original in the way it used a 'buddy-movie' situation where the partners hardly even talked; such was the understanding between them that only a nod and a look conveyed their meaning. Then, on top of that, it was a love story played out in-front of a thriller set-up. It was pure class.
Other than that, I thought these movies were great:
The Grizzly Man, The New World, An Inconvenient Truth, Syriana...I think that's about it for now.
Then, there are some 2006 movies that haven't come my way yet, but that I have high hopes for: Borat, Little Miss Sunshine, The Fountain, Pan's Labyrinth...
Either way, The Departed is nowhere near the best movie of the year. It's not even the best version of that concept.

I've yet to continue Miami Vice, but the more Krunkd keeps raving, the more excited I get.

1. V For Vendetta: Powerful, strong, emotional, and incredibly well made. Easily the best film of the year.2. X-Men 3: Very good action flick. The Juggernaut was definately the best villain of the year.
3. Lucky Number Slevin: Smartest movie in years. Always a joy to watch. Hilarious, too. Bruce Willis has still got it.
4. Nacho Libre: Jack Black at his best. Good fights, great characters, and a laugh from start to finish.
5. Talladega Nights: Funniest movie of the year.
6. Cars: Best CGI film since "The Incredibles". An enjoyment every minute of the film.
7. Barnyard: Good story, good comedy, and surprisingly, amazing film as a whole.
WORST
1. Aliens Gone Wild: One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Don't even look it up. A combination of the shittiest films of the 80s into something so bad that I couldn't finish it.2. Ultraviolet: Another one of the worst films ever made. Dull, annoying, cliche, and random. Somehow worse than "Godzilla and Mothra-The Battle For Earth" in these things.
3. Fun With Dick And Jane: BORING. I did not laugh once. Jim Carrey's worst movie ever.
4. Superman Returns: One of the dumbest superhero movies yet. Keviin Spacey is great, but come on! Do something new! Plus, the twist. That was one of the crappiest twists ever. Jeez!
5. Firewall: Harrison Ford's worst movie.
