Best and Worst Movies of 2006

I'm glad to have a thread like this. Now the holidays are almost over and I have a stack of free movie passes, but 99% of the time they can't be used in the first weekend of a movie. The downside is I have to wait, but the upside is I will get to hear what is worth seeing. That being said I did see:

Best:
Casino Royale

Worst:
You, Me, and Dupree ... I left the room after no more than 15mins. Maybe not fair to list it as worst after watching very little, but since when has Owen Wilson had a good movie?

P.S. don't mention wedding crashers, because Vince saved that movie from being complete garbage.

Bottle Rocket, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic and Zoolander to name four of them. Plus, Wedding Crashers was gold the whole time.

Worst out of the ones I have seen: The Hills Have Eyes.

Wedding Crashers sucked balls, and it basically shows that Wilson is only in good movies if Wes Anderson directs.

Best movies:

Superman Returns (Best movie of the year. Great handling from Singer. Can't wait for the sequel)

Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (one of the best secrets of the year. It's Tommy Lee Jones equivalent of "Unforgiven"😉

Silent Hill (great job on transitioning the game to the screen. Best movie game yet IMO)

Slither (great homage to b-monster movies. The movie pokes so much fun at itself and the genre that it was just a pure delight to see it)

Worst movies:

V for Vendetta (this movie was a mess for me, and I'm a big fan of political, action, comic book and Natalie Portman movies. I still don't see what everyone likes about it. There was just too much thrown in here IMO, with political messages to make it seem legit. As one famous critic put it, it's a political movie for those who normally don't follow politics).

Miami Vice (and I'm one of the biggest fans of Michael Mann. Such a downer for me when a movie from this directing god just fails all around)

Hostel (other than the naked girls hehe, the rest of the movie was awful. Thank goodness I only paid $1 at the discount theater for it).

I know you feel it 'fails all around'(sic), but what was it that you didn't like about Miami Vice? It was more sophisticated than Collateral and the last few scenes out-Heated Heat.
