The CIS was stinking rich, im sure they could have employed a new military commander. Besides, that Geonosion Commander (Poggle?) looked like he has seen a few battles in his time 😛The Republic had better ships, the CIS had more ships. Again, the CIS had strength in numbers.
By the time of the Battle of Geonosis, about 1.2 million clone units were ready for duty. (AOTC Novelization) It is speculated that "units" refers to military units rather than individual clones, as the GAR was able to keep Separatist strongholds under siege for months at a time. This theory was disproven in the novel Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover, though the credibility of the film is greater than that of novels, the first theory should be the more reliable. In it was mentioned the fact that the Republic only had enough soldiers to place one on each of its planets and have few to spare.
Given that quadrillions of droids made up the CIS forces, the clones number deficiency was partially complemented by their overwhelming heavy weapons advantage, embodied by vehicles like the Turbo Tank and the AT-TE (although the CIS produced large quantities of powerful vehicles like Baktoid's Droid Gunship and the Corporate Alliance Droid Tank), as well as the general Republic space superiority. While one on one a clone was equal to a battle droid, and inferior to a super battle droid (AOTC Novelization), their superior creativity, ability to seize the initiative, and space superiority(AOTC Novelization), when combined with precision strikes and insurgent actions of the specialized clone units such as the Republic Commandos, ARC Troopers, and Clone Intelligence units, the GAR was able to slowly gain ground in the war.
Just a little info I found on wikipedia referring to the 1,200,000 clones.
