One of my recent ex-girlfriends used a family illness to dump me, her mom had just developed breast cancer. Her mom is fine now, if anyone cares. Anyway a few months after her mom got the cancer she came over to my house and told me she was "too depressed and sad" to be in a relationship and just needed some time alone.

I felt that she did need some time alone, her mom just got cancer and that can be rough on people, so I agreed to take a break as long as we could still talk and would get back together once she straightened things out in her life. The next day I bought her flowers and one of her favorite movies on DVD to cheer her up, I got to her house and she was sitting on the couch making out with another guy.

I think it's just that they go for the so-called "hot" guys when they are young and then as they get older they realize how shallow they are and they learn.
