After tonights debate, it's clear that the only descent candidate on the GOP ticket is Ron Paul.
1 This debate was unfair and totally leaned towards the poll results. There was nothihng "fair and balanced" about it. Thanks as usual FOX News. However, it was more entertaining than the last one. That is to be expected in a society that has bought into the Jerry Springer mentality.
2 I kept expecting (hoping) Paul would redirect the debate to Guiliani being such an excellent Mayor that 9/11 happened in "his city" at all. As Bill Maher said, Rudy is the "Are you FU*KING kidding me?" candidate that the GOP has had such huge successes with in the past. Paul should have pointed out that Rudy has no experience in ANY presidential capacity. That's like putting the manager of a profit turning McDonalds franchise in charge of the McDonalds corporate empire.
3 Ron Paul wins, hands down.

But from a FOX sponsored debate, what do you expect?

It was quite interesting watching the Republicans debate down in South Carolina tonight. I think it's clear that this group has come to fully understand that winning the GOP nomination is all about the codpiece. These guys have just spent the last fifteen minutes of the debate trying to top each other on just how much torture they are willing to inflict. They sound like a bunch of psychotic 12 year olds, although considering the puerile nature of the "24" question it's not entirely their fault.
This debate is a window into what really drives the GOP id. The biggest applause lines were for faux tough guy Giuliani demanding Ron Paul take back his assertion that the terrorists don't hate us for our freedom, macho man Huckabee talking about Edwards in a beauty parlor and the manly hunk Romney saying that he wants to double the number of prisoners in Guantanamo "where they can't get lawyers." There's very little energy for that girly talk about Jesus or "the culture of life" or any of that BS that the pansy Bush ran ran on. (Brownback's position, forcing 14 year old girls who've been raped by their fathers to bear their own sibling, will have to suffice for the compassionate "life" crowd tonight.)
John McCain is the only adult on that stage and that scares the living hell out of me considering that he's half nuts too. Wow.
I think Rudy won it. These people don't care if he's wearing a teddy under his suit and sleeping with the family schnauzer as long as he promises to spill as much blood as possible.

You're being just a little bit hard on Rudy don't you think? He isn't that bad, especially compared with some of the more staunch Repub's like Hunter & Romney.

No, I don't think I'm being hard on him. That bullshit complaint that he put out last night was laughable! When Ron Paul said that 9/11 was a result of our foreign policy, that was an absolutely true statement! And Rudy wanted to cause a scene by saying that he should retract his statement! BULLSHIT! And FOX News has been running it all day. Ron Paul didn't say we caused 9/11, he said we caused their hatred based on our foreign policy. Paul NEVER said we caused 9/11 or stated that he believed in any conspiracy theory. And Rudy's knee jerk, ignorant reaction to it is the very bases of the FOX news mentality.
It's irresponsible for any presidential candidate not to realize that foreign policy is a two way street. And Rudy's reaction tells me he thinks that it's a one way street. Our way! And America eats it up! It's silly. I mean, the man said he had no problem with torturing people! Apparently he intends to run the country the same way he ran New York, with a billy club up the ass of anyone that disagrees, be it our own citizens or other countries.
And I also find it amusing that the republicans are eating their own young! And so soon!

I was/am ignorant of Rudy's recent actions... I'll read up.

add to that, the notion that it's no longer the 1700's....it's 2007. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson realized that, and would be ashamed. GWBush does not. This is no time to relive the barbary pirates situation, nor is it to ignore the fact that the situation in the middle east is a direct result of the cold war. The cold war is often called a proverbial war....well, the "ground war" occured in the middle east, and it's still going on. Thank you industrial revolution.

The Industrial Revolution was not the greatest moment in human history. However, it was a great moment in human history. Look at all the acheivments gained by the chinese before they abandoned them.
However, I assume you were having a Stephen Colbert moment there.
