I don't think anyone is saying that. The initial intention of my original post was to point out that although the puppy-killing act was bad, there are far more dispicable things happening in the US, and the world in general.

Most people seemed to miss that. Most.

...That's very wrong.

He wasn't being serious.

I hope not. I'd have to eat him if he was. 😏

Comparing a military operation to a bunch of whack-ass kids burining a dog to death is quite a leap.

Yeah....though...in which direction?

Its starts young with a puppy and leads to kids like these growing up and burning down Tokyo.

It's all a matter of genocidal perspective.winkiss

What the heck kind of signature is this, that whatever?? 😑

Really? Wow, how bizarre! It's also kinda like the one I first quoted, too. Bizarro!

Oh, the one without the words "systematic" or "deliberate"?
Again, you're failing to grasp what I've been stating in regard to my usage ("an explicit interpretation of the term"😉, and your attempts to refute my points are becoming more and more tenuous. The end result of this is that I'm finding this discussion more and more tedious.

You know, it'd be easier for you to say, "I can't argue for my stance, so I'll argue around yours."

Oh, really? Are you sure about that, or is this another example of you failing to grasp the argument presented to you?

genocide: the deliberate killing of a large group of people, esp. those of a particular ethnic group or nation.

Ooo, seems like the latter...

Haha, you know you just said that, right? Too good. Do I really need to continually repeat myself until you get it? Do I really need to continually repeat myself until you get it?

Hehehe.

Nope, actually, it was my misremembering.

yeah, but as quigon put it "there's always a bigger fish".
the occurance of more horrible acts does not render a lesser act of brutality superficial.

i see what you're saying, in that any thread regarding current events -including real attempts at genocide as opposed to this symantics battle over the middle east wars- seem to fall like a stone in a pond due to complete lack of interest.

the chinese recently brutilised millions of canines and people gave a mild outcry. genocide attempt after genocide attemp in africa and i have yet to see a thread...but this one puppy is the last straw and sparks hellfire debate. yes, its odd and silly.

True that, but I was merely satirising the context of the outrage of the thread starter. I'm a dick like that.

Antipathy breeding apathy, perhaps? The world is a weird, terrible, beautiful place.

Do you think that's because those things happen to 'other' people? Are we all inherently racist by our apparent ambivalence? I hope not.

racist? no

idiots with no sense of priority or genuine humanity? yes

we'll ignore a million children starving to death, but be damned if we have to hear of the pain and suffering of something cute and fuzzy.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but it's almost like people accept the atrocities in Africa because they occur so frequently. I guess it's not a show of racism, but it's definitely a show of ambivalence when there should be no doubt.

It seems that no one can freely associate with such horror so it's hard to sympathize or even show empathy without understanding the true nature of the atrocity. One of those, unless you've seen it you cannot really imagine the terror.

Now on the other hand most everyone has seen a puppy and can imagine that being killed.
