So, despite how "nice" and cultural the UAE is, I won't be visiting anytime soon. Unfortunately for Dubai, no amount of Las Vegas style skyscrapers will solve their government's moral issues.

I think Doha (Qatar, not the UAE) showed the world when they hosted the Pan-Asian games last year how unready some areas of the world are to join the GLOBAL culture.

Religion must be separate from the state. In all cases.

Yes it is, as Alliance pointed out. The Quran treats homosexuality as equal to adultery and punishable by death.

Islam won't be destroyed, nor should it be. Governmente need to stop using Islam as a source of law (as Lil pointed out). Islam, like all religions (as amazing as that cen seem at times) will change with the times.

Yes, but you see that as somehow justified ? How is that loving ? How is that moral ?

And btw, Homosexuality is also a sin and punishable by death in Christianiy as well 😉 - the only difference is that here in the United States, Christians are not allowed to execute us. They are only allowed to deny us civil rights, pay us lower wages, and talk about how evil they thnk we all are.

Well, Catholic Church certainly doesn`t recognize homosexualism as punishable by death nowadays, though it is still a Cardinal Sin. You are really not very accurate here, Lord Urizen. Most of people I know are Christians, no one of them would advocate killing homosexual people, they mostly tolerate them.
