FOOL. When i say black I do not mean "Diverse". I mean BLACK.Prodigy was cool, i liked the guy. followed the adventures till- he was depowered while the guy that hated on him (Hellion) was given crazy shine and elevated to the top (to recap: black kid looses power, white kid that hated on black kid keeps power, and keeps getting stonger.) you really don't see my problem with that? REALLY? never heard of Nezehno but he or she will be dead soon or worse believe it. "Bling" weak as well as being a sad stereo type. (these character serve as plot fodder nothing more.)
Tag (power sucked) depowered and blown up.
I'm just shocked. 😐
Diverse = White, Black, Brown, Blue, Green etc...
Prodigy is still on the team, being depowered doesn't take his intelligence away from him which came in handy during the Nimrod Saga. He's still a pivitol character.
Nezhno? Boy from Wakanda. Show's what you know. Pick up New X-Men #38 next week and see.
So, we have established, in the MU, that Black people (not not to be confused with "DIVERSE" people) can be these things right? Then why did Alex's people have to be LA GANGSTERS (with a whole UNIVERSE to pick from the writers couldn't do better?)
Look up the meaning of diverse. We have.
It was the way the story was meant to happen. You want to talk stereotypes look at Hudlins writing. Two words: Arabian Knight.
what? Oh, you mean: Again why did the kid with no powers have to be black? Why couldn't he have been white with Mobster/ Shady Politician Parents? YES EXACTLY.
He could have been but they decided to make him black. What's your point?
CLOWN. It's BECAUSE he was black that he HAD to play that roll. it was written just for HIM.
Again that role has been played by non-black characters in other stories. What the heck is Gambit?
What you're implying is: "Only white people are capable of doing bad/stupid things".
i'll wait, while your brain catches up to your assand for the record if Alex "Sucked" who's fualt is it if not the writer's
( the white kid with no powers started off with TECH and now has a telepathic Dinsour the writers made that work didn't they).
I think you should take your own advice:

The only thing I was bitching or moaning about was McDuffie's portrayal of Silver people....😕.

We're bitching about Hudlin completely ignoring character's personalities and their limits.

I'm including everyone in this discussion. Everyone is equal and everyone has an equal right to be in the book even though it really shouldn't matter. What makes a great character is their personality, that should be what every see's.
You're upset that a black character turned out to be a bad guy. You're upset that they he came from a stereotyped background Two things I suggest you do:
1. Get over the fact that he turned out to be a bad seed. It happens to everyone.
2. Look at all the other stereotypes in the Marvel World. It happens to everyone.
you mean like a Janitor has a pivitol role at a school?
I was actually comparing him to the Beast/Forge character but for some reason you seem to have a really low opinion of Prodigy.
your missing the point on purpose. some people might questtion your intellect.
Actually I'm not. You seem to have reached the point where you're just arguing for the sake of arguing. You don't see anyone bawling their eyes out over the way Arabian Knight the greatest/only Iraqi super hero was one-shotted?
One more thing I'd like to add, you're acting exactly like the people you claim are responsible for the "lack of black characters" in the comic universe. If you are indifferent to every other "race" then there's no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to do the same. Since we're all equal and all.
You're has an e and an apostrophe. Irony.
Which brings us back to: why is anyone else supposed to care about "the lack of black characters" when the only thing you seem to care about is "the lack of black characters." All the while decrying the "token black characters" while proclaiming the need for there to be more black purely so there be black characters, without regard to the actual character development so long as they're not the villain and don't have bad things happen to them.
I gather all that hot air must help you stay up on the soapbox.

From that forum.
What? T'Challa gets beaten while wearing street clothes, by a character I know absolutely nothing about? Blasphemy!!!
What? T'Challa went toe to toe with the Silver Surfer? Relax, it's a comic book - I bet plenty of people thought it was cool!
🙄.

big up the other "Unicorn" in the roomBut your assuming that the story and art would be shitty in an all black team book. in my opinion it would be no different than the new "Champions". (No black people on the team, i'm, pretty sure people will check it out, like the story, like the art, and keep supporting it.)
maybe the term "Black Super Hero" is confusing some people. from now on i will reffer to them as heros that happen to be black. i mean look at how they do us:
Steel - one of the only properties to survive DC's "blaxploitation" of the 90's (what ever happened to Static, Hardcase, Icon) also a spitting image of John Henry (all the way down to the hammer) and let's be honest, when it comes to power houses Steel realy dose'nt come to mind. my scale would give him a high to low C; intelligence high C low B
Mister Terrific- Intelligent, yes. however as i understand it Batman and several others are way smarter/craftier. and he has no powers making him a 2nd class Batman. far from mighty my scale gives him a B in intelligence; and a power rating of D
John Stewart - was an architect, prominent member of the GL corps, many times considered field leader of the JLA.
and then, the $#!+ hit the fan. he lost his powers, then got them back (prety standard hero trouble stuff) got his powers back with a MAJOR boost (ok i like that) falls in love (uh-oh, a love intrest for a powerful black character, ok ok i'm feelin you) Crazy @$$ Hal Jordan shows up kills your girl leaves you powerless the end. (wait wtf just happened to my hero?)Power level A (previously) Power level F (currently)
Cyborg- Very popular DC character, once leader of the Teen Titans.
Cyborg had, arguably, the worst power set on the team. (robin is written like Bats so he's safe) power rating D (Sonic blasters? the most powerful Boom Box ever?)Patriot - future successor of Captain America (i beleive this statement to be false. simply because of the mystery surrounding MVP and his secret), leader of the Young Avengers (which was cool i admit, but the only fight that HE ever won was while he was under the influence of HGH.) sense he's had the blood transfusion we have'nt seen what he could really do. everyone else on HIS team gets more shine in action sequences and in stories than he does. I love the Patriot character, i would like to see more of him. However after civil war they stopped putting them out. while "Runaways" continues to have issues.
Power level D at best (he did smash Mr. Hyde though)Black Lightning- dont know a ton about him, but he is a current member of the JLA.
Deathlok- major villain in Marvel, former Marine. power level C (previously) Power level F (currently)
He was also USED as a plot device recently as Gravity is now the new "Protector of the universe". Having died using up all of his powers to save "poor" Deathlok and others, Gravity was rewarded for his heroism by the writters.War Machine - ex soldier, Side Kick, Mechanic, once Iron Man."Rhodey" the sell out. Power level C at best (you can't have the copy be as strong as the original.) I liked War Machine, Baught War Machine, and watched while he was gradually fadded out by the return of Iron Man
Also, did you notice that 4 out of the eight heros that I mentioned are "watered down" copies of "Older" white heroes. in my opinion that makes them side-kicks.
ex. Steel (could be) to Superman as Robin/Night wing is to Batman
They're the little guys next to the BIG guys.I mentioned "Runaways" earlier. those of you that are fans remember Alex right? While everybody else got to be sons and daughters of Aliens, Sorcerrers (sp), Time travelers, Mutants, genious Inventers, and Ultron. Alex was the Black kid with no powers. His parents were LA GANGSTERS (WOW) not "Super Villans". he was smart (think watered down Peter Parker minus the spider bite) Icould have lived with his character the way he was, i mean, he was black. in a book. leading a team. helping everybody figure out how their powers worked. had a love intrest on the team (uh-oh). Turns out to be the traitor (what?). dies horrible death (WTF) .
ex- teamates $#!+ on his grave every chance they get (d@#$ Alex).
father gets rejuvenated by God like beings who give him no powers and send him back to get F'd up and tied to a tree. suffice it to say, i don't read "Runaways" any more. This is the book they brought back instead of YA (go figure) 😠Holla Bidack
BTW. Mister Terrific is the third smartest man on the planet.
My bad on the type-o, I was in a rush.
Now that I'm back, allow me to bring this back to the point.
As far as Hudlin goes, I never read his Spider Man, so I can't comment on it.
As far as I'm concerned, I like his Black Panther, I've got some complaints about his Storm, but nothing that will make me quit reading/buying the book.
On the subject of race, it's funny how people act like there isn't a problem (I posted several good exaples. Third smartest, next to who? who are #1 and #2? )
It seems, like every other "minority" in the room has a problem with the fact that I have a problem with the lack of my group's "equal" representation. (Because, they don't have a problem with their group's lack of "equal" representation?)
I'm not asking aybody to care about the lack of representation in other books (I care, and I'm enough). But when looking at Hudlin's characterization of white people you feel, exactly, how I feel when I read books like "Runaways" and "New X-Men". Some of you are acting just like some of Hudlin's "White" characters.
( I DARE one of you to print this thread out and let one of your "Black" friends read it, and ask what he thinks.)

Terrible writing is terrible writing. I didn't know about the character in the Runaways, and the reason is because I don't care for the writing. The sort of stuff that happened to that character (and many other characters in that book) is stupid in my opinion too. It's bad, boring, stupid writing. That's also what I see when I look at Hudlin's work. Bad, boring, stupid writing.
Largelty there is a problem with minorities in comics. Black people are one of those minorities. But going the exact opposite way is completely backwards-ass.

I was wrong about the several. But, I was right about him being a second rate Batman.
My point is, every new character has the potential for greatness. That being said, is there a rule that says a black person can't be #1. I mean if the story is good and the art is good you'd buy it right?

I don't read Blade, but the fan's seem to like the book (based on some posts I've read). But, I loved the 1st 2 movies.

I was talking about the "feeling", and yer right, I am irate.
As for the Doom reference, personally, I don't think it a far leap to have him say the line. (Making a "racist" statement does not make him a racist. It makes him an "Ass".)(can we agree that Doom can, in fact, be an "Ass?"😉

Overcompensation ? Maybe. But as a black guy, the only time I interact with white people is at work. My world is black. So I can relate to the lack-of, character references of the White characters in the Black Panther books, that's my world. That's the writer's world.
The reverse, I'm sure, could be said for alot of people. Including the Writers and Artists, and that's my understanding as to why there aren't better super heroes that happen to be Black.
