The Great Darkness Saga was a 5-issue storyline In the comic book Legion of Super-Heroes that ran from issues #290-294 (August-December 1982), with a prologue in #287 (May 1982)
Superboy was removed directly after Crisis as a run on from it the story arc was going on at the same time.
One of the more noteworthy stories involving the Time Trapper came after the reality-altering miniseries Crisis on Infinite Earths and the 1986 revamp of Superman's origin, which removed Superboy from Superman and Legion continuities. Given the problems this posed for Legion continuity, it was revealed in Action Comics #591 (August 1987)
