Well technically the other thread is called 'Rename' them, and your opening post said give them a 'new' name, so its like me giving you the name Ted, as opposed to distorting your original name to Vini Valntin or something.

That is a form of distortion, you're 100% correct! But that's not all distortion is. A distortion would be partially twisting the username to alter it's look, like how you warped my username to alter it's look.
