Hmm, you raise an interesting point, Surreal. Do J/Es turn their arguements back on themselves? We complain that W/E is ordinary and too unrealistic, yet we make J/E out to be just that. Hmm. Human nature, I guess. We all like the fairytale endings. But this is just the personal reasons why I only tolerate W/E and am not a fan of it.COTBP
1. I thought the romance made both of them seem weak. I wanted Liz to prove herself and the only times she really did were when Will was not around. At the same time, I got sick of Will's "I'd die for her" bits. He's the hero. We get it.2. I'm still a tomboy in spite of my J/E indulgences and I was far more interested in how they would all get out of their messes rather than would Will ever see Liz again and vice versa.
3. They only had a few scenes together total and only one before all the trouble started. I just didn't care too much about the romance there.
4. Will wore buckled shoes in a pirate movie. He's very smart and brave and I do like his character a lot, but he paled in comparison to the other characters.
5. I was too busy falling in love with Jack.
-------------
DMC1. I was too busy wondering if the girl at the beginning was Liz because her hair was so dramatically different.
2. I thought it seemed kind of soon for the two of them to be getting married. My dad would have gone nuts if I went from sexy hand bandaging to marriage in the span of a year.
3. Once again, they have very few scenes together. I LOVED Liz was becoming stronger and she got to fight and really show off her resourcefulness and I loved how Will was growing up and meeting his dad and had this great plan. They're far more interesting apart than together.
4. When they WERE together, I don't know, I found both of them should have been happier to see the other than just mad at Jack.
There. Lots of reasons that have nothing to do with the J/E chemistry. The bottom line is that I didn't care about them in the beginning, and I don't care about them now. I love both of them to death and they're neat, just not together.
yes....I agree...that's just it....to me...there is no will and elizabeth relationship...they have no great moments together...no great lines...nothing exciting....just emptiness....ho, hum....

yes and u could almost feel that sense of something missing between those to....i mean they look good together, but not GREAT!
I have to adit that the scenes with Will and Liz are cute. There is this comfortable feeling between them.
But with Jack, you feel the tension. The sexual tension. ANd to think that they both met their match, makes them even more attracted to eachother. Each one knows what they want. The chemistry between them seems to be with more sparks.
she is revealing herself to JACK!!! LOL...thats the not so little girl in her coming out...thats her being a Woman....i think thet when Jack rip off the corset it didnt only represent her ripping away from the restraints of her corset, society wife life.....i think that was the very minute Liz became a woman, she grew up the minute she came back from almost dying!
It's like I said before..with Jack and LIz they reveal things to each other that no one else sees or knows...think about it....J
1. Jack rips the corsett from her....even if Will had been around to jump in and rescue her, he probably wouldn't have had the guts to expose her....
2. Jack brings her up on deck and what does he see...the medallion....but he doesn't tell anyone....it's a secret about her that only he knows.....and
3. then on the Island...Jack and her reveal themselves...she's in her underwear in front of Jack on an island (basically an older, strange man) and she is not in the least bit self-conscious...Will would have been trying to cover her up or something (get some clothes on, Ehtel)....s
4. She finds out that all Jack's great escape stories or just that..stories....and in the deleted scenes he shows her that not all the stories are false..there is some truth...he shows her all of his scars....
5. and the initimate scene when they are drinking the rum together..love how he watches her rub the top of that rum bottle and says "how much more"...LOL
6. Then she teaches him the song and they are dancing and singing around the campfire.
7. I love when he explains what the Pearl means to him....and "I'll teach it to the crew and we will sing it all the time..."......they are having so much fun in this scene...so at ease with each other...
8. Peas in a Pod....Jack tells her he admires her for going after what she wants....and she calls Jack by his first name..JACK...I like you but I don't entirely trust you...and then he says to her "peas in a pod" luv....
(gosh this scene ties so much in with "very much alike"...when they rerelease the trilogy as a box set..they need to add those two deleted scenes back into COTBP because it will tie everything together...
9. Jack's parting line to her....in COTBP
10. In DMC....when Liz tells Will she trusts both of them....meaning him and JACK
11. On the Pearl...when Jack is explaining the chest and the compass to her...the connection between them here is so evident...so intense..they barely notice poor ol' James in the background...I love how he keeps putting in his two cents worth..."you don't actually believe him"...and yes, she does...She believes in and trusts Jack...she has faith in him
12. The Persuade me conversation..right her Jack is coming more and more to realize what a match Liz is for him....here she is with the letters of marque..without having got the compass from him...but not Will he had to be honorable and do the things by the book..but not LIz...and just how did she get the prize?...she tells him "Persuasion"..and he's like "Friendly (LOL)"...."Not"...and then he takes the letters and hides them in his coat on his person and she wants them back but he's like "no Persuade ME"...LOVE The implications of this...SO HOt....Will is out of sight, out of mind in this scene...
13. Curiosity...here they both reveal things about each other....they both want each other...but lay out the terms under which that could happen...both thinking that it will never happen...but it does....she does go over to Jack's side by acting on selfish impulse...she is unable to resist...and he has a moment to do the right thing..to do something really courageous..and he does....
14. I love the way...she is too mad at jack for "lieing" to her to be excited for Will that he was reunited with his father in the beach scene...
15. In the script when the sword fight starts...she supposedly hollars "Jack"..but I've re-watched it over and over and she says "Will"
16. and of course...the Jack surrounded by Hallo...She's the only one who sees Jack in the longboat..and then suddendly he's there to save the day...he picks up the rifle and she clings to his leg...one of the most intimate acts between the two throughout both films...it's such a classic heroic pose..Jack firing the rifle...looking so brave and so tought..and Elizabeth clinging to his leg "My Hero!"
17. The Kiss of Death..the looks exchanged between them are zizzling...Jack is so serious in the scene..all jokes are gone...Elizabeth thanks him for coming back "I always knew you were a good man"...and then the kiss...the way they stay so close throughout this entire scene...the almost kiss...and that one single, most powerful word...PIRATE...
Sorry this is such a long post..just felt like talking about jack and liz again, as usual...
"5. and the initimate scene when they are drinking the rum together..love how he watches her rub the top of that rum bottle and says "how much more"...LOL"-----lovethemtigers
Oh my gosh, is THAT what he was looking at? That's so subtle and so ingenius!
I like his reaction to when she yells at him.
Liz: Drink up, me hearties, yo ho.
Jack: What was that....Elizabeth.
Liz: It's Miss Swann!
And Jack just surrenders to it like, "whow," major PMS there.
i know...that is hilarious....I love when he says (deleted scene)..he calls her Elizabeth..and she corrects him and tells him It's Miss Swann....and he's like 'well, excuse, me."...but he says "I'm sorry, is there a problem between us Miss Swann..."...and she tells him she cannot believe he was going to tell Barbossa about Will in order to get his ship back and he tells her that he was not going to tell Barbossa about bloody stupid Will...gosh when they release the box set for the trilogy..they should add these deleted scenes back in to make the movie flow so what happens between j and l in DMC is more clear....
