The Apocalypse Respect Thread

Apocalypse vs Magneto and his kids.

This was the origins comic they commissioned to promote the game, X-Men Legends II, back in 2005.

Yeah. I noticed. >.>

There was even a sprite of his ancient Egyptian form from Evolution. Sweet!

Oh, I see. Interesting...

In the end though, Sinister caused the machine Apocalypse was using to malfunction. 😘

What was the name of the issues that were promoting XML II?

I'm not sure.

I found the scans here.

yes, i remember fighting against that Apocalypse.

It kind of stretched his arms in a drill and a hammer..

he had a badass looking also! i remember when apoc punched beast 😄

and for the cheapness.. is just that some characters are otherwise impossible to beat. This version of apocalypse nearly kills every mugen char (there are extremely cheap exceptions)

Meh. I never did get to play X-Men Legends II... One X-Men game (with Apocalypse in it) I did get to play though (besides X-Men: Next Dimension where Apoc appeared in the background in one of the stages and made that evil laughter) was X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, for the SNES. 😛

(Apoc. appears as a boss there at the end, but he wasn't as good a boss as he could've been, obviously.)

Ironically enough, that one fighting platformer was what got me into the X-Men series at first. 😬

Yeah. A lot of characters in Mugen can be cheap anyway (depending how they're used).

Who did Apoc sleep with to spawn Holocaust? He kicked Lorna's ass pretty easily.

Question, this is the apocalypse respect thread but I was wondering if you really like apocalypse, and if that’s so what made you like him?
Was it the comics, games, cartoon…? :-)
The answer for me is, I started to like him after I read the miniserier “rise of apocalypse” and read a fanfic called “The Game of Empires” (have anyone more than me read it?) and that’s when it really started. Althought I have always seen apocalypse as a badass mutant and villain, but his back story made me really like him ^_^

X-Men: The Animated Series.

X-Men: The Animated Series

X-Men: Evolution

he is nearly as i wish him to be in comics 😛

Any idea when we are gonna find out what the celestial have in store for apocalypse

I first got into the X-Men series (and came across Apoc.) in the game X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse for the SNES. Of course, since I knew nothing about the series at the time, I regarded Apoc as a weak mutant (since he was an easy-to-beat boss), and thought Magneto was the most powerful mutant of all since he was challenging as hell at the end of the game. Seeing Magneto's power in the first X-Men movie made me continue to believe he was the most powerful mutant, until... I saw X-Men Evolution. (of course, I still like Magneto in general and what not, but happen to like Apoc more, even if Magneto is canonically more powerful)

Before the episode where Apocalypse was fully released, I knew he had to be something else, seeing as how the guardian of that 2nd door (the spider thing) took all of Magneto's might to destroy, and the fact Apoc had taken over Mesmero's mind, who was able to defend himself from Xavier with ease (until he was captured of course). (needless to say, Mesmero was a hell of a lot more powerful under Apocalypse's control than he was as a circus freak in the comics)

Then I was in awe and stuff when I saw Apocalypse take out the X-Men, Brotherhood, and Acolytes in one telekinetic blast 😛, and when he made Mystique, Magneto, Xavier, and Storm his horsemen (whom I thought he had killed at first).

Then not too long after that, I saw X-Men: The animated series, which was awhile before X-Men 3: The Last Stand came out. After I showed Apocalypse in Evolution and the original animated series to my friends, we had really hoped/assumed he would appear in the 3rd/final X-Men film, but it seems our wish had fallen on deaf ears when we saw pretty much every other mutant BUT him...

After that, I saw the Rise of Apocalypse series (how he originated) and later on came across KMC (this thread being the first that I saw since it was linked from Apocalypse's wikipedia page), and seeing his feats here in this thread further increased my respect for the ancient mutant.

--------

Overall though, aside from his unusual powers & having them enhanced by Celestial technology, being the first mutant, and all that, his backstory was what made me really like him as a character too.

Heh. Same here, I guess >.>...

I was disappointed though at how Apoc seemed easier to beat in the comics than in Evolution and the animated series, especially when it came to The Twelve saga. 😘 (but "Cycpocalypse" was pretty cool while it lasted)
What I also didn't like in the comics was there were plenty of instances where Apocalypse was not at full power because he had not gotten enough time in the Lazarus Chamber to reach his peak again, such as when he was awakened early when Stryfe had come about.
And after Apocalypse's original body was destroyed on the moon... he had to transfer his essence from host body to host body.

But since no host body couldn't contain his powers and stuff forever like his original body could, it caused him to get beaten by others a lot easier (and more often). Meh...
IMO, that's not how it should've ended for him. 👇

I must say though, the time Apocalypse really left a mark for me in the comics (aside from the Rise of Apocalypse series) was when he and Cable teamed up to take down Onslaught. 😎

Nope. No idea... though every time I happen to glance at page 2 of this thread, I wonder when we'll ever find out what Apoc owed to the Celestials 😛, but we definitely won't know anytime soon...

animated series and X-Cutioner’s Song, i was like 6 when that stuff came out

X-Men: TAS. Actually seeing him in comic after TAS, I was disappointed with him, because of not being portrayed as powerful, dangerous or such evil villain force as in TAS.

In TAS he really lived up to his name.

Ah yes. The X-Cutioner’s Song. I knew I was forgetting something...

My sentiments exactly (for the most part).

That he did. 😄 He would've lived up to his name in Evolution as well if he had succeeded in turning everyone into mutants. 😖hifty:

handling xavier and storm like they were toys was enough for me 😄

and about the movie The Last Stand, i knew what was it about before watching it, but at the same time the AoA intro of the movie made me wish i was wrong 😂

Damn straight... in TAS, he almost succeeded in destroying the whole universe, vaporized the X-men in one timeline, and is physically impossible to damage on any level.

Point taken.

Him turning Mystique into stone was awesome too (it was like Ozymandias all over again).

Same here, but I meant like before I saw the previews.

If Apocalypse were to be in the movie, I knew they wouldn't just include him to have a cameo appearance (like the majority of mutants did in X3). Wouldn't of made sense, unless it were like at the end of the movie or somethin'.

Hmm. Pretty much (about that last part).

Is there anyplace where I can see the last two or three episodes of "X-Men: Evolution"?
