I must admit I developed a new respect for Apocalypse after reading Avengers #3. FINALLY a writer who didn't treat him like a total pushover. Even if it was Bendis...and even if the dialog was kinda stupid and un-Apoccy like. It was still a very good showing for old blue lips...his best showing in years.

Unfortunately it wasn't 616 Apocalypse.
But I think he meant that Apocalypse should always be that way due to his powers. And not so long ago making joke out of Stryfe, this is a feat that also felt Apocalypse like (even if not 616). Speaking realistically we always felt that 616 Apocalypse was capable of that and was in such league. It just depend on writers. Writers know that Apocalypse can be written as beast or a joke.

He didn't say he would rule the world but he admitted he would be a force to be reckoned in the future. I think the issue is somewhere lost among this thread.

Final issue of X-Factor Forever.
They hand over Nathan to the Celestials who then gives them a cosmic thumbs up and return Nathan to the team. But Apocalypse left out one minor detail; once Nathan is judged and deemed fit, the Celestials teleport to Genosha and gives them the cosmic thumbs down (literally and figuratively in this case). It forces X-Factor to save every mutant on the island while the Celestials destroy Genosha. A quick round of teleportation and X-Factor does the rest. Genosha is in ruin, but the mutants are saved. Ship becomes a much more awesome version of Noah's Ark and once the island is gone, the Celestials finally leave.
They should really pit him against some stronger enemies in longer fights. Every time he gets put against some one strong and powerful they end it with him winning but like a panel
Thor-Fought once and didn't even show much him hitting thor away thor coming back
Silver Surfer-In and alternative universe he takes him out with one blast but the fight could be more epic than that
Hulk-Choked him out when we could have had one of the best fights arond
Namor-Turned his hands to whips and dealt with him in about a page.
Yet when he fights x men we get a few pages worth. I know he's not a brawler and all but the with his shapeshifting, celestial armor, I can have any power type of power I want why won't they just give him an epic storyline where he really shows his stuff am I the only one who feels this way? I mean he has some good feats, but they are mostly shapeshifting minimal power gaining. This should be a guy you wanna pit against darkseid or Mongul.
Thats just me though, I know he's had mini's his own storylines but they were more showing more about the character(Like we already don't know enough) rather than demonstrating what he can really do.

I've read a lot of Apocalypse (though interestingly enough, none of the Age of Apocalypse). I think he's best when portrayed as powerful, menacing, fun, sarcastic, and hands-off. Almost like an evil Professor X. I think the only writer that has ever accomplished all of that is Louise Simonson. He's an all powerful genocidal high lord yet he can personally and warmly convince an anorexic, troubled teenage girl to follow him.
