why was Darkseid's face chilling in Bludhaven? Was he just watching Karate Kid and company? Or did he have something to do with the destruction of Bludhaven that I don't know about? Or did he actually just superimpose his face against all nuclear craters, because, ya' know, that's just how he likes to do things?

I like how the most recent issue of Countdown (the one where it got renamed to have the "To Final Crisis" in it) was just one big glob of super exposition- just the monitor telling new readers who are jumping on at that point what's been going on. It did have the great side effect of changing Countdown from a going nowhere story into a mystery, which is cool- and all signs point to Darkseid. But something is telling me Darkseid is far from the main player in this game. Any theories as to who it is manipulating everybody?
Monarch and Darkseid are too easy- I mean, they might be the main villain, but it seems like DC is pointing to them TOO much... there's no big reveal.
who is everybody else guessing?
I like some of the arcs going on in countdown, but my biggest beef with the series is that I think all of this sould have been told in 12 part story.
Because every issue is basically the same.
I can sum up each story arc in every issue in one sentence:
Mary Marvel: "This feels sooooo wrong, but sooooo right!"
Jimmy olsen: "Whats happening to me?!?"
The Monitors: "This is an OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!"
Search for Ray palmer: "Bob where the hell are we, and OH SHIT! What the hell is that thing?
Piper & trickster: "RUN!!!!!!!!!!"
Holly Robison: "Woman's LIB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
