No we go by current continuity. Average showings only apply to characters that haven't undergone any fundamental reenvisioning e.g. Superman, Thor et al. Darkseid we know is operating through avatars when he goes mono e mono with Superman. Funnily enough even if we use these avatars he comes out on top quite often against Supes, even by post crisis stories.

If it comes down to avatars, sure Thanos is comparable to his avatars but not for the totality of the entity known as DS.

What part of Omega Sanction don't you get? Can Thanos prevent Darkseid from entrapping him in a series of alternate realities which will erode his very being after every successive life, in these realities?

If Thanos cannot stop the OS he's done, even if he takes out DS's host (we know that won't stop DS since he isn't corporeal) but he doesn't have the tools to stop the OS.

Mind abilities, a being that controlled Superman and someone else isn't on Darkseid's level. Their is no proof what so ever that Thanos outclasses Darkseid's tp.
