I know you are just trying to be logical 😉 lol. But I think I find it rather silly on the immortality couple thing. Will and Liz, forever and ever sailing saving souls.
On the one hand, I see it. Will and Liz are the immortal lovers. However, I've been thinking about the quasi ending of DMC and the ever loved, ever challenged kiss.
We have Will, whose foot rarely falters. If you notice, he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. When I say mistakes, I mean, even if he makes a mistake it is usually because he is trying to do the right thing. He's as selfless a character that you can get, which to me, symbolizes almost a god-like quality. His touch of destiny if you will, think like Adam and Eve.
Elizabeth in COTBP was similar. She is almost always trying to do the right thing. But in DMC, that changes in her relationship with Jack. If it was about lust, and her giving in even so much as a little to that lust, changes her character completely. Though she did the right thing in sacrificing Jack, there was a hint of selfishness in her decision. Which is sort of like, Eve taking a bite of the apple.
So in short, Elizabeth isn't necessarily worthy to be an immortal when compared to someone like Will because she's taken a bite of the apple so to speak.
In that way, Jack is her foil because he is the most human of all the characters. He's the anti-hero.
I don't know, I think I'm babbling. You can totally argue that in AWE Will also takes a bite in the apple when he starts betraying everyone.
