To be fair I believe Xavier was part of that merge.
Dr. Strangefate is not only an amalgam of Dr. Fate and Dr. Strange, Xavier was thrown into the mix as well IIRC. Don't forget, Strange is/was powerful enough that even LT noticed IIRC, Fate is the power of Nabu, who fought the Spectre. Xavier stood his ground, telepathically, versus an Dark Phoenix. Such a being in the Amalgam Universe might indeed be the most powerful one, aside from the merged Brothers, and don't forget, LT and the Spectre aren't part of this Amalgamverse, they were holding it together for some time.

DoctorStrangeFate should be able to mainline psychic power, mainline magical power, have access to multiple lifetimes of knowledge, be the best connected mystic in the universe, have artifacts coming out the wazzo and possess the looks of PatrickStewart. Plus with all the ridiculous amping capacity he has access to you're bording on an insane power level.
What in God/TOAA/the Presence's name could stop him with LT and Spectre completely out of the picture?

Well, unfortunatly Dr. Strangefate may be the most powerful being in his, the Amalgam, Universe. We see no Multeternity, or any other abstracts, neither from DC nor Marvel, nor amalgamated. Maybe they were destroyed, maybe they were in the same state as Spectre and LT. So, yes, you could name beings from Marvel or DC who might be more powerful, but he seemed to be the most powerful in HIS Universe. 😉
It never was Dr. Strangefate vs MArvels and DCs Abstracts, it's Dr. Strangefate > the other beings from the Amalgamverse.
