How would pictures help if you can easily see it right there? when I read in my biology book, all I see is poorly informative pics of the inside of a worm. Why cant see the reality of these creatures and actually try to learn what and how it looks inside. Now days, youi can ask permission to not have to dissect a frog. I actually wanted to dissect a frog while about 7 classmates asked to not do it so they had to wait in the Media Center and do biology work.So if you dont want to, then yoju dont have to but I think dissecting a frog and actually studying the looks of the inside of an animal would actually help you learn.
Well taken pictures are almost on par with looking at the dead body in front of you. True, it might not be as clear, but in the long run it is a stupid lab anyways so the clarity doesn't exactly matter. All you need is a rough idea of what the insides look like to understand it!
Personally I don't understand why anybody would want a creature dead because they wanted to look at it. It's a life. It breathed, it felt pain...
Isn't there any compassion?
And learn what?
What the inside of an animal looks like?
Very few careers would require you knowing that. So why not leave it to institutions of higher learning if nothing else?
Yes, but why? Despite cruelty since that reason is totally over used and is still being objected.
Because it should be against anybodies morals to hurt an innocent creature.
Because (and I'm only assuming the majority of your class mates are Christians because that is the most common religion in north America) according to scriptures God said to protect creation.
And finally, because at what point do we draw the line to obtain knowledge? If killing surpasses that line then there is no real boundaries. And is that ever a good thing?

Of course it breaths before but what is it an endangered species? No.
You see, people say they dont need Biology, yet it is a requirement so why do I have to learn Biology if my career has nothing to do with it. (Engineer and Tech)
And as a catholic, we learn why Jesus died for all of our sins, and I understand why we dissect frogs but I believe THEY HAVE BEEN FOUND DEAD IMO. I doubt they have been killed, but I can be mistaken.

How is that relevant if it's endangered or not?! It's still killing a creature for a rather pointless exercise. It simply might come down to a matter of your conscience. But anything dieing for a pointless reason is a sin. Especially if it's healthy. And just so you can see what it looks like up close?
You shouldn't have too.
And I'm sure it's an "extra" course, only taken for credits. Biology probably isn't necessary.
No, they haven't.
They kill them so you can look at them.
