Not really that funny considering this is an english speaking board and it's not bold to assume that not even 1% of this board's members are Islamic/Hindus/Taoist.
That doesn't explain them not being there. If they are a dominant religion, they should be posted. Regradless fo what language they speak.

And the reason why Agnosticism wasn't listed is because it's not a religion, nor is Atheism for that matter.
It is a religion because it is the absence of one. It defines a group of people who have similar religious ideologies. You cant pretend over a billion people don't have a voice in the religious community because you claim they are not a religion.
Atheism is not a belief system. It doesn' t consist of an integrated system of doctrines, beliefs, and ideas that are used to provide guidance and stability in people' s lives. Atheism implies no further belief system. It implies no beliefs about politics, no philosophy, no beliefs about society, no beliefs about science, no beliefs about religion. If you know that a person is an atheist, then you know that he or she lacks belief in gods. Nothing more, nothing less. Atheism can be part of a religion, but it can’ t be a religion by itself.

Maybe all atheists should form a religion.

Athiests/Agnostics are a group of people that have a united stance on religion. Not all religious are dogmatic and have to take a stance on every issue. Even if they do, a religon's constituants hadly ever conform entirely to the official opinions. Religion has never been successfully dogmatic because people hav free will. Therefore, saying that athiest are not a relgion, in my opinon, is rediculous. The only thing that unifies people in a religion is a belief in a similar type of god(s) with the same names.
In my opinon, a religion is best defined as a person's belief in the spiritual nature of the world. Every religion has its own take on spiritualism and defining what it is. Athiests/agnositics question or deny the presense of a concious, active, higher power. This a) unifies them as a group and b) makes them a religon.

Athiests are against the nature of an organized "religion." Forming one would be contradictory to the most basic beliefs of non-believers. It already is a "religon" in the terms defined above.

I was being sarcastic.
Now my atheist brothers, lets read from the book of atheism, the gospel of Fred paragraph 7 verse 2. 😆

I think you are technically correct. Religions do have those items you posetd above. However, practically the adherents to a particular religion wont adhere to those particualr beliefs. Almost exclusively, at least one will be changed. (ex. Catholics and the use of condoms). The one thing that I think is consitantly present in all people in any particular religion is the belief in one type of supernatural power.
Using this more funtional defenition, then I think athiesm can be directly compared to religion.
If you don't think this is true, how would you represent athiests/agnostics in the global relgious debate? There are over 1 billion of them, 1/6th of the global population. How do they fit in?
My original comment was also geared toward the fact that agnocticism was not in the original poll, but athiesm was. I belive that many more people are agnostic than athiest. I felt the poll was not representative of global society.

I explained why there are none of those people here. If there are none of those people here it's useless to have them there.
It's like asking how many Amish people there are in a light bulb exposition.I see no need to waste my time in a response to this since you already admitted you were wrong.
It's a free forum...also, I think there are people from India here. The Major Religions should be included in a reasonable poll.

Not really, 39 people submitted "other".
A poll about beliefs should include the World Religions.
What the hell are World Religions anyway?

Do you really believe there are a fair amount of muslims, taoists and hindis here? Or do you simply want these religions to get the recognition they deserve?
I don't know, but they should be included, simply because they are the worlds largest religions. They do deserve recognition.
These would be, in order of number of adherents:
1. Christianity
2: Islam
3: Athiesm/Agnosticism (Not religious)
4: Hinduism
5: Buddhism
are the major ones, these should be represented for sure.

Christianity
Islam
Hinduism
Buddhism
Judaism (pretty small but still..they are considered a world religion)
for the poll there should also be included
Atheism
Agnosticism
and maybe
Mormons
Also, there would probably be just as many people voting for Islam and Hindusim as there are for Satanism, Judaism and Buddhism
