He is right about relative age, it's not what he said originally though.

I have talked about relative age in my posts to. It also has little to do with the segment of text that he took from one of my posts. Which also has little to do with the point I was making... hence him clutching at straws... Because he was picking fault at something just because it was a generalisation. It was a generalisation but that really has little to do with my overall argument.

I realised that, I think he is trolling you.

yes naz, i wasnt challenging your POV, but rather stressing that everything changes based on perspective. where you see a woman in the mirror i may see a child, where a 90 year sees me as a baby. thats all i was addressing with regards to your comment.

I agree completely.
That and I know many 20+ year olds less mature/adult than my 15 year old cousin.
To me it's a matter of case by case. shrug

from your perspective.

(relative to her, respecting her perspective while declaring it not absolute)

from mine most people under the age of 20 are obnoxious babies who are incapable of even comprehending a real relationship.

(no way implying this outlook to be factual, and this is where you seem to be misunderstanding)

however there are a minorty which i would most gratefully have one with. same goes for older women. (older for me, meaning 35-40+)

...of which there are a minority which i find below the maturity level of a 15 year old.

now, moving along?

Yes but as I don't know the people in question in person I can only base my opinions of them on generalisations and the probabilities of them fitting in to them. The vast majority of 15 year olds I've met are very immature... I know I was back then. Heck, I'm pretty sure I am now. This is how I'm basing my perspective on the situation. I may be way of the mark on it but there's not much I can to about it.

O.K. glad you cleared up your opinion.

I think peoples maturity changes in context to what they are doing and what they feel is appropriate or even worth bothering with in a given situation. I'm sure even this older guy Schecter can behave immaturely in the right situation.

i agree 100% but thats not a sweeping generalisation.

this however:

15 year olds are not mature, they think they are but they are very much mistaken

thats all i was saying. shall we drop our swords and have a pint?

Fair enough, but I don't think you should be talking about them then, but rather just the issue of underage sex simply because you don't know them and therefore can't know whether they are mature enough together. shrug

That's in reference for example to you saying the age gap between them is too large instead of just talking about large age gaps in general. shrug

They are actually not having sex (more than I'm interested in if they are), just a point and friendship between them shouldn't really be a problem.

In a later post I said that I was talking about a general couple... Not specifics... I admit it was a generalisation...

And that pint sounds mighty good.

I was just talking about the issue until I was dragged in to specifics.

Yes, but it's also to do a lot with life experience and background and other factors. Maturity is not universal, some people have it, others don't.
Which is why I think assuming that no 15 year old can make an informed decision about having sex is bs, not that anyone has come right out and said that, but you know what I mean.

Why are you defending this so vehemently.

Just as you say people shouldn't assume certain things about them and their situation neither should you.

That would be hypocrisy and we don't want that now do we?

I kind of see his point, though I am making this obsevation late into an argument. Hearing that a 20 year old man was going to meet a 15 year old girl would make the vast majority of people a bit uneasy, and rightly so. That's probably why he is trying to get his points across.

I never would have figured you 2 were together. I thought he was like 27 years old.

i think the point is that none of us really has the forsight or knowledge to assess their relationship since we are talking about two individuals who we kinda know but not really much at all ...if anything.

I also agree with that and given they met on the internet. However in this Bardock guys defense, He has been speaking to her fo almost a year and a half. Met the parents etc...

Two points I don't know is did he go to England specifically to meet her and do they consider themselves boy and girlfriend?

These would provide context for all our oh so judgemental opinions.

Yes... I got that from it too.
