Yes, It would be a protective mechanism. We all have some sorts of them. We have religion or other things. They give us comfort. People seem to want to lean on things, especially when they don't understand. As people, these things seem to give us comfort.

It is Jesus' words so there is no contradiction between Jesus' words and Paul's because Paul's teachings came from Jesus via revelation.

It is Jesus' words that Paul is preaching so there is no contradiction between Jesus' words and Paul's. Again, Paul's doctrine (i.e. teachings) came from Jesus via revelation.

RIIIIGHT. and the next time a criminal gives testimony that he/she didnt do the crime, should be taken as positive evidence which "DEBUNKS, LONG HELD, BELEIFS" of the victims concerning the things they went through. and the shock on the victim's face/s when this happens should be interpreted as "being OVERWHELMED WITH DISILLUSIONMENT".
