USH'S MATRIX GAME 2006 FOURTH ASSIGNMENT (COMBAT)- 'The Real'

"When you're ready to walk," says Finn.

Melis will try to get up.

(Idea for Fire and Hawk: Fire, in order to get some light, you could use Fix-It to hotwire the lights in one of the dead Sentinel's 'eyes,' though it might be too fried for that. Just a thought.)

Actually, that plan's a bit insane. Hotwiring a sentinel could very well switch the damn thing back on. However, ripping the circuitry out shouldn't do that, and also will provide sparks. And sparks means we can set fire to something.

Also, Ush, just to try and get a sense of direction... can Hawk feel any air circulation, or hear anything, or smell anything, like smoke?

Actually, that plan's a bit insane. Hotwiring a sentinel could very well switch the damn thing back on. However,

Fine! In any case, you could always shout "Help!" and hope that somebody comes.

And hope that some Machine doesn't... ermm

Well, Finn, Melis, and Barb are camping out in the middle of a tunnel...

Ok, well, that plan works! You get a momentary flash of red light.

The walls were the wrong place to look. The hatch is in the ceiling.

-

You may be able to stagger, Melis, yes.

Staggering will be attempted, then.

Has Melis broken anything?

Yup. Right arm, left leg.

A slow, painful staggering then...

"Good thinking Hawk! Lets try and get that hatch open shall we?"

Well, let's get to opening that hatch, then!

How high is it? Will we need to stack dead sentinels or something?

Yes, stuff like that.

Hawk heads back over. "Here, Fire, help me stack the calamari and any loose junk to get up there. We'll make Mount Squiddie!"

"Sure!"
I go over to help Hawk.

Melis- you find the remnants of the Percy about twenty minutes away, scattered over a wide area.

But the main section has come down relatively intact.

-

Opening the hatch would be easy enough except that it is blocked from above.

But once you start making enough noise to open it, you hear the scraping noises of stuff moving above,.

When the hatch oepns, it lets in a dim light that, to your eyes, iscorches like the Sun.

"Holy Crap," says Dallas. "You guys are alive."

Melis wishes she could break into a run, but remembers the splints and the breaks and continues her steady stagger.

"She'll never fly again, in that state," Melis sighs.

"No, that's it for her," says Finn. "We'll need to detonate the rest once we are done."
