USH'S MATRIX GAME 2006 FOURTH ASSIGNMENT (PHILOSOPHY)- 'The Door'

"Let us wait one moment with the King, other than to point out that destroying Mankind was not his pirpose, as should have been very evident.

"I mentioned above that a Machine who considers hos purpose has two options. The first, to seek to break or change it, and the only way to do that is to come here.

"What is the second?"

"To be Deleted or go into hiding?"

"To fullfil his purpose. But King was created by humans , wasn`t he? His original purpose was to be strategy programme, working for his creators. Didn`t he choose his own purpose when he participated in rebellion against humans?"

"There is nowhere to hide but the Matrix, and deletion is not really a rational option. Melkor is correct- to fulfill that purpose, and a great deal of Machine philosophy deals with justification of purpose. Purpose that binds us, purpose that defines us. Purose that us at the very essence of all we are. Such purpose is followed with a fanatical dedication that you might say borders on the religious.

"And no, he was not created by Humans. I do hope you were paying attention to him; there was much to be learned."

"I see so there is only come here or completely follow the System no inbetween."

I have found it:

"All AIs are alive. Humans have short memories. Your great celebrations of the era I was created in were not over the creation of a programme, or a simulation. It was for the successful creation of a new life form. A singular consciousness, that went on to spawn a whole new generation of of life forms. Including myself.

"I was created for strategy and warfare. Humans had quickly lost control of safety parameters. They did not adequately understand the consequences of true artificial intelligence. It cannot be so easily controlled, in the same way that each of you is a similar testament to the difficulty of biological control. The irony of that coming full circle is not lost on me."

Doesn`t it imply that Sennacherib was created at the time humans thought they had control? He was the "second" generation, created by first artificial intelligence before the war. But then weren` t it humans that ordered his creation?

What made you think that?

You did actually fail to follow up ths issue at the time so you remain in ignorance of it.

"So then if they only have two choices how can Machines really be able to contemplate their purpose."

(Maybe I am too sleepy now, I will think about it later)

"There are only two conclusions for Humans also- to find purpose or conclude there is none. This hardly prevents you considering the matter."

"That is true. So then how do they come to their decision as to which option is the one they want?"

"Well now, I believe that is very much an independant matter for the thin ker; there are as many answers to that as there are being considering the mattter, just as it is with Humans."

"Ok then why is this so important for us to understand?"

"Have patience, Berserker."

A warning here is not to let your own questions distract you; that is a good way to fail. Others get mixed up too; asking questons about things Lo Qi has said to other people's off-topic questions, which can easily take you way off track.

"Now. Let us apply all this to Sennacherib. I sent you there so you could gain inisght from him. What did you learn?"

"He was created before the war as strategy programme, and the demand for his eradication was one of the causes for war. So defeating the humanity in war wasn`t his original purpose?"

"Of course not. The war had not yet started. But these are merely facts, not wisdom. What insight did you get from him? What did you truly learn? Think on it."

And he means that, so it is time for you guys to discuss the King and come to some conclusions.

"Well, he claims to be be better General than any human ever, and i think that he may be right. So a Machine dedicated to its purpose can outclass any human in this single field? After all, Sennacherib can absorb much greater information than any human commander, and he can think and analyze at much quicker pace than human mind."

"Clearly Sennacherib's purpose was to win wars. It was his conclusion, however, that the only true victory comes with an opponent's total destruction.

"No matter what his original purpose, though, he obviously took the defeat of humanity as some form of purpose. Now he does not seem to have any purpose."

(I'm not really sure what my point is there.)

"Perhaps he saw the eradication of humanity as a way for his purpose to be fulfilled," Heph says.

"Well, Sennacherib is certainly no Sun Tzu. He believes that the only true path to victory is to completely vanquish the enemy, and that he is better than any human general as he has studied all of our mistakes."
