USH'S MATRIX GAME 2006 FOURTH ASSIGNMENT (PHILOSOPHY)- 'The Door'

"What wil be the effect of its spreading? Is it what Hunter calls victory?

So this virus is indiffrent towards humans?"

"Victory?" asks Lo Qi, raising an eyebrow at the Hunter. The Hunter continues to just stand there. "Oh, I see. Yes. Well, I am not in a position to comment on that. I am not fighting a war.

"And if you mean indifferent as in... unfeeling, then yes. But that is only because it lacks emotional capacity; nothing particular about Humans there."

"Spread? How?" Klez asks.

I don't like the sound of this... Klez thinks to himself.

"Will the spreading of this virus affect the Matrix? And what I meant is whether the Virus will want to do anything regarding humans.

Finally, what kind of war is Hunter waging? I only know that it seems to be against the System."- Melkor looks from Lo Qi to the Hunter.

"Of course it will have an effect. All things have an effect. But I doubt you appreciate the way it will happen, as your second question shows. You are too locked into the term as metaphor."

"Okay, I think we're going about this the wrong way," Heph says to the others. "Lo Qi just said that he has say in the matters of war, after all."

"What is it that he's going to do now that he's out of the Door, specifically? And...er...does he have a name?"

"Okay, so perhaps you could explain your motive in your monks aiding the Hunter? Are you not afraid of retribution of the System? I thought Exiles avoid its hostility.

And what is the nature of the Hunter?"

"It's not my place to reveal someone else's secrets," says Lo Qi. "But it is the Hunter working with me, not the other way around. As for retribution of the System, that is a contingency I have planned for, so I have few worries.

"It has no name. It never needed one. And it will head for the City, I expect."

"What will it do once it gets there?"

"I believe I answered that already."

"So...it'll spread. How will it go about doing that?"

"So you cannot explain your reasons as well? Motivations determine actions, and actions determine effects, Lo Qi. Knowing the motivations of those involved in this situation would allow us to understand it. So far only King Sennacherib was honest enough to explain himself..

So why is System so desperate to stop this Virus? And does it have enough resources to stop it yet?"

"Judging by what we just saw the System has no resource to deal with it. It;s main contingency has failed. And my motivations are very complex and will take some while.

"And to spread, it need only be there."

"Ok then I have a question that has been bugging me why did the Hunter burst into flames? And so this thing is a Virus and you can't tell us who created it or should I say won't. well then it seems as if things have kind of gotten out of our hands huh Lo Qi?"

"Ah well, as to why the Hunter caught fire, that is simple. He was crossing the barrier to the door, so that was an inevitable consequence. All part of the system you have just seen operating, although it failed."

"Woo I knew it," Berserker screams out loud.

"I was right all a long. So then the system was trying to keep this thing under lock and key for a long, long time huh."

"You seem to have passed over a few areas here. something which often seems to be a barrier between Humans and understanding. Your understabding will be very limited whilst you persist so. The syste, of control I am talking about is a sentient one."

"Can't argue on you with that one now. So then are you saying that the barrier was sentient or that the system as a whole is sentient?"

"You are concentrating on the result at the expense of the cause. The system is personified by the programme that resembles a Doctor."

"Oh ok so Virus boy just stomped on the avatar for the System like a toy. That doesn't make sense then how could Doctor have died with a simple neck snap?"
