I liked the voting system we worked out a while ago ... I think Ethereal and possibly Ill were involved in coming up with it (now if I can just remember where it was posted)

😐

bumping this:

Also, the power stacking gets the 👇 for my vote. Some have figured out ways to get more powerful as the tourney goes on by natural means (like General Kinky, b*tches!). Arbitrary power upgrades from defeated foes seems unfair unless there's a legit reason to justify it. If it's an aspect of the person's power set that can be exploited, fine. Otherwise, no...at least imo.

Ok, found the discussion:

We could always just have a vote after the first 6 matches to say who the best 2 losers were and add them back in to make it a straight 8 man knockout format.

Exactly what I had in mind, lol. The 2 best out of the first 6 losers will move on to the second round. This will most likely be based off of the smallest difference of the judges votes in the 1st round...basically, whoever 2 lose in rd.1 with the closest votes, moves on.

Well, I had an idea that I was planning to implement in my tournament that may help in this one. I was going to use a point system.

Win = 3
Loss = 1
Winning by Unanimous decision = +1
Losing by Unanimous decision = -1
Popular Vote (Poll which has no bearing on the outcome of the fight) +1

Using this point system a victory could be worth up to 5 points and and a losing team could still have a chance to earn 2 points and advance to round 2. (It was a bit more in depth in the tounrey I'm drafting up, but I hope you get the idea).

If it comes down to that (a few teams with the same "score"😉 we'll use the team with the best margin from the popular vote. The popular vote won't effect the outcome of the bout, but it will effect if a losing team moves on or not.

Sounds like it could work.

🙂

Beh. Works for me. But would this negate the need for a "loser's match"?

Yes ... but seriously, free for all losers matches are never any good anyway ... it's virtually impossible to follow what's actually going on at any one time ... and having a mini knock-out for the 6 losers would take quite a while.

All good points. I fear change, so it seems like doom to me, but it'll probably work well. And yeah, FFA's are notoriously chaotic. Fun to be in, impossible to observe with any sense of what's going on.

free-for-all baaddddddd . . . damn, i have a hard enough time following 1on1 battles!

i like the point system. i hope goob decides to go with it or a variation on something similar.

It's in the odds thread. Also by using the point system it will facilitate seeding in the second round.

Just a suggestion.

I may implement it in my tournament...

that's an important question and one i was going to ask goob about. with spot, bw could technically hide out in spot's dimension and just blast away and never be hit. technically it would make him unkillable, so i'd assume such a tactic would be banned.

I still say it would have just been easier to ban phasing all together 😖hifty:

Anyways I think transferring into different dimensions is going a bit over board. At least when phased Vision and Shadowcat can still be hurt even while phased.

This seems like it would be something completely different

I have to agree...

So no vibrational frequency manipulation? Or just no using it on myself?

I'm not the final say, but is there a bfr rule?

Mind: Black Panther
Body: Sabretooth
Powers: Northstar

Ill draw Trick; Kheperion 😂 (Sounds funny) on my next break at 10 tonight...

Ill see if i can draw everyones char. portrait if they dont mind..

Question about our Amalgams character..

Are the 3 chars we drafted suddenly are trasported at battle location, then gets zap and transform to the Amalgamated version of themselves?

Or Where they always on that form and have had a few years of life exp..?

Dont know if that made sense but I really need to know these.

Mind: Dane
Body: Backlash
Powers: Warbird
