What OS do you use?

We all have our preferences for characters/universes/power levels in the forums.

Now a question of a different breed...

What is your preferred OS/platform and why?

If you constantly scan comic pages for proof, what do you use?

Please keep it civil.

As for me... I tend to use OSX with Photoshop for scans, although I'm equally comfortable using Windows for the same thing.

Firefox works fine on either platform for viewing the forums here.

Right now...my Mac is what I'm viewing this with.

dunno if this is allowed, but if it is, oki doki...

i use windows xp, but i havent quite got the hang of the scanning thing... i can't seem to scan the images at really good quality...

oh, and i use photoshop 7...

Hey, another mac user. *high fives* OSX 10.4.8

We have a member's pic thread...and I'm sure far odder things in here.

For scanning, you may want to look for a "descreen" option on your scanner settings. It makes a HUGE difference in quality. After that, just play with the contrast, brightness settings and that should make a pretty good scan for forum use.

So what OS are you running on it?

My custom made runs XP and Linux.

I'm running Vista, and I'm not a fan of it.

My twin likes it

XP, although I tried and failed at Linux. Between bad cd burns and my video card being really new and not supporting default x-server drivers, it didn't go well so I gave it up for now.

Have you tried PCLinuxOS?

It's about the easiest Linux out there.

I use Photoshop CS for scans. Illustrator CS2 for drawings.

The Os I use? That I'm not divulging.

Hmmm.

Yeah, ok. This feels wrong somehow, but I can't put my finger on it and I guess it's with good intentions.

Allowing.

No. But this computer has a dvd drive in it so I can't really burn a cd of it. I could always switch it out with the spare cdr drive or go downstairs and use the computer I was previously using but I can't be bothered now.
