Some of us don't give (or take) BS about the religious implications of 666. 666 is mathematically fascinating, and using it isn't going to send me to hell.
Any true nerd is fascinated by a number that equals the sum of the squares of the first seven prime numbers AND the sum of the first 36 real numbers (which is especially interesting because 36 is an extremely unique number in itself for a number of reasons, but I won't get started on that in this thread).
Equally fascinating is that 666 is a Smith number. And although it isn't a shock to see a palindromic number or a rep digit, to have a number that qualifies for so many different types of numbers definitely gives it points for fascination.
There is more: Do you recognize any significance to the number 149? It is an Eisenstein prime, a Stern Prime, an Irregular prime, a Long Prime, a Pythagorean prime, and a twin prime of 151 (which has significance that I won't go into right now).
Well, get this: 666 is a magic total of a prime reciprocal magic square that is based off of the multiplicative inverse of 149! (I would love to act like I figured it out myself, but my friend taught me about that kind of stuff).
666 doesn't have any historical or religious significance. When you think about it in one way, the mathematical significance isn't even that great.
BUT IT IS ONE DANG COOL NUMBER!
