I dont have a problem with what I see so far. I have confidence in Nolan, but at any rate im probably the most liberal batman fan here (but not without reason).

Well, technically, everyone on this board is going on assumptions... Pretty much no one can really know how good or bad the movie is gonna be. It could be a sucessful sequel, like Superman 2, or it could stink, like other movies I won't mention... The movie is no where near being out yet, so speculation is all you can do. The movie is so closely guarded that "only your undertaker knows for sure..." I mean, just because Begins was great doesn't mean the sequel will top it... (I have faith, but I'm not assuming it will be good or bad)
See if he was going by like what he has seen from the trailers I would have no problem with him making comments like this movie is going to be as bad as batman and robin because usually with comicbook movies, there is enough evidence to know from the trailers if the movie will suck or not.Not always, but most the time there is.Like with batman 89,from the trailers,it looked like a great movie because they were showing all the action scenes in it but as we have discussed before, the first hour in a half was a boring snoozefest because there was hardly any action in it at all.the trailer was the best part of the movie.with the exception of the scenes with kim basinger in them of course. 😄 i always fastforward through those scenes she isnt in. 😄 but like with the spiderman movies, you could easily tell from the previews if they were going to be good or not,the first one and the third one,you could tell by the previews they would be horrible,it was obvious.the second one,the previews looked good and naturally it was a lot better than the first one-thats not saying much though.but come on,batman begins doesnt even have a trailer out now,its way too early to be saying crap like its going to be as bad as batman and robin right now.wait till the trailer comes out,THEN say that, because THEN he has something to go by.

to batdude:im pretty sure everyone's having the same mixed feelings just like before Batman Begins was released. The Scarecrow - potato sack mask and a suit. The Tumbler batmo-tank. Christian Bale? not to mention Batman Begins being poorly marketed.
I dont remember hearing anything back then if Bale would be right for the role back then, all I remember hearing is a lot of people saying the same thing I have, that Nolan was on the right track casting Bale and that a lot of people thought Bale would easily be a much better bruce wayne than keaton was.Of course there were the keaton defenders as well but thats what I remember hearing a lot back then.Yeah I remember people being concerned about the movie as well with scarecrow having a potatoe sack mask and a suit also along with the tumbler tank batmobile. The story was so great and exciting from start to finish though that I could look past the tumbler and enjoy the movie because it was just like a batman movie should be,filled with lots of action from start to finish with a great storyline and great casting.a batman movie should never come across as a boring snoozefest to people like so many of my school classmates were complaining about back in 89.
Yeah I sure hope to hell warner brothers has learned from their mistake this time and starts getting on the ball with the marketing of this movie and doesnt again poorly market it.its suppose to come out in july, they better start getting the posters out soon to advertise it.the key is get it in their minds like close to a year before it comes out, that the movie will be coming out sometime in the next year to get them all excited.batman is an extremely popular character but if you market him poorly like they did with begins, doesnt matter how popular he is,it wont perform up to expectations box office wise.I remember with batman 89,the marketing for THAT film, started a year before it was released which is a major reason why it did so well box office wise, but if it had been as poorly marketed as begins was when the movie was out in the theaters before a lot of people even realised it,it would never have done so well at the box office.so again, they better get on the ball and start marketing that movie NOW!!!

definately, there's people more concerned about Ledger and some that are confident in him, some people genuinely believing TDK will flop and stuff. I know some people around here are complaining about Bale's Bats having no detective skills well, Nolan stated that BB was an origin story, and now Batman is increasing his skills as well as developing detective skills. Hans Zimmer or w/e his name is, giving Batman a 'much' more deserving and better score. etc. they shouldve released 'good pics' of Ledger as Joker, the evil grin, etc.
I think they're doin an alright job at promoting TDK so far, with viral marketing a ton of monthes before but they shouldve released footage at comic con, afterall Favreau did and then Iron Man was basically like the star of comic con...
I've heard that complaint before, but I really didn't have too much of an issue with it. I just kind of assumed that he wouldn't be "the world's greatest detective" on his first year at the job. The only thing that kind of annoyed me was how he acted like he had no clue what Lucius said when he was explaining the toxin. He should've at least been somewhat familiar with it if we're to believe that he'll eventually become the Batman we all know with the "prep-time surprise" lol

Batman did use his detective skills in Begins. It may not have been a lot, but he did use them. I fully expect him to use a lot of his detective skills in TDK.
Ras as a teacher.
Batman didn't use his detective skills.
Katie Holmes in general
And people are 50/50 on the Tumbler I think

I liked the idea of Ra's.
Batman did use detective skills, maybe not as much, but he did.
Katie Holmes will be remembered for two things..Being Mrs. Cruise and Joey Potter from Dawson's Creek.
I had no problem with the Tumbler. That worked and it worked very well.

i think the tumbler gets destroyed though, and whats left is the batpod thing
They did turn his orgin upside down. The 1989 movie, OUTSIDE of the Wayne murders, keep the Joker's orgin mostly intact, a nameless hood(The Red Hood lol) falling into that toxic bath. In the 1950's the Joker's orgin came to light when Batman reopen the Red Hood case, and found out that the Red Hood was the Joker. I read the comic. the movie did not mess with the Joker's orgin MUCH.
But here, they relly flip this upside down. Cutting his mouth for a smile?? Putting Make up on evey day??? Come on. Open your eyes. Thats even WORSE than PeterParker's claim of the 89 movie.

IA but I feel like everyone accepts all of Nolan's changes because this is the kind of Batman movie they want to see but I don't like what they are doing to the Joker anymore than I liked him killing Batman's parents.
In 92 over the Penguin, Yes Burton ruin the Penguin. Yes Batman returns was dark, Yes Catwoman was sexy and alsome lol. But Penguin was done pretty bad. From a High Class manner, to a low level underground drewler. It was awful. Burton flip the Penguin's orgin's around in Returns, and it ruin the Penguin imo. The same is happening to the Joker imo. People are useing rose color tints here.

I don't understand why people are getting so offended by Joker putting on make-up... If you fell into a vat of acid or chemicals, you wouldn't come out looking like a clown... You'd either...
(If you fell in acid) be burned alive
(If you fell in chemicals) die from the toxic substances or be seriously ill from it
It works in a comic book, and it works in a cartoon, and it works in Burton's world, but when it comes down to it, it doesn't work in Nolan's world nor the real world...
The Joker being a f***ed up guy who puts on make-up because he WANTS to look like a clown makes him that much creepier... And if that doesn't end your doubts (it probably won't) you have his personality and characterization. He'll be the Joker on the inside...
It's all about new interpretations... New ways to see your favorite characters...
Off topic: Does anyone notice that some stories say pre-Joker guy fell into a vat of acid? How does ACID make you turn into the Joker? Acid burns you... Dent got severely burned because of acid, and that only hit his face... But if pre-Joker guy's WHOLE BODY fell into acid, wouldn't he burn to death?
