Please try to ask questions that are in context to the discussion. The pheremones wouldn't change the weapon, they'd change the arm weilding the weapon by effecting the mind that controls the arm.

Apparently in that comic, Superman was this:

The green lantern was being controlled by some sort of evil. While telling Superman that's how he looked when he first came to earth. And that he had to adapt so he turned human. It was basically a deal where the alien superheroes where being controlled.
