Anyhow, seems I've finally unlocked almost all the characters now (in DBZ: BT3). Aside from the ones that require Dragon Balls (Chi-Chi and future Gohan), I just have King Kold left to unlock, by beating the Cell Games on advanced mode. 🤪

at gamefaqs, I read some crap about getting the super survivor song by beating a tourney on the hardest difficulty.. but I think they completely removed it from the north american version or something
I tried doing that myself recently, and was wondering why it wouldn't unlock. 😬

Well, she did have it in DBZ: BT1, apparently. I didn't notice up until now though that the costume was missing in DBZ: BT2. 😛
Meh. Probably because I never used that costume. I always liked using the normal costume when playing as 18.

Anyhow, I just unlocked King Kold (with a little help from an Evolution Z item), and dang! His ultimate special is awesome. clap

i don't know if it's already been discussed but, i don't really wish to go through this entire thread just to see if so. so, if i may ask...
what's up with future "create a character" modes?
when are they ever going to put in actual personalized characters?
i would love to make up my own saiyan warrior or namekian.
if you transform your character, you could probably choose the hair (or horns or whatever) and attire appropriate to your previous form in "create mode", wouldn't you say?
simple models to choose from and basic aspects of how you may level your character (i.e. playing story mode at various levels of difficulty or discovering new capsules in game that unlock the next stage for your created character, in transformation, would make it seem all very possible.
if THQ can do it with wrestling (as far as moves go, not necessarily model design) then why not?
sprites aren't hard to work with.
just saying, a little extra effort and a little more budget for the "create a warrior" crew and you may boost sales and bring in a great new aspect and draw for your game.
imo.
Akkuman was a terrible what-if story. If he was beaten by Goku(in his younger days mind you) He isnt going to last with Frieza and Cold, I'm sorry. Frieza would throw him into the energy ball he used on Goku before the devilmite beam would hit Frieza. I don't think he would be able to go far with the pitchfork, Frieza and Cold are fast and strong to hold that off. They could have had a better story line for the dragon history and they took away the ability to transform at will in the history mode. Also they should have paid more attention to the details in the special saga: For example, In his fight with Janemba, he was in SSJ1 but factually he was actually in SSJ2(The gap between his bangs gives it away) They could have added the History of Trunks in the Special Saga since they had Future Gohan.

It kinda worked the same way with the Spirit Bomb (in the Saiyan saga). If there's no evil in your heart, it won't hurt you, so Kid Gohan was able to bounce the Spirit Bomb right back at Vegeta because of that.

Not to mention, they skipped several scenarios in the regular DBZ sagas. 😐 You didn't even fight as SS3 Gotenks or Mystic Gohan in the Buu saga of DBZ: BT3.
Budokai Tenkaichi 2's story mode was way better.

The only reason he lost against Goku (in his early days) was because Goku had no evil in his heart. If the opponent has evil in their heart (which Frieza and King Cold certainly did), Devilman's special attack/ability causes his opponent's heart to explode, so that what-if story made perfect sense. It kinda worked the same way with the Spirit Bomb (in the Saiyan saga). Yeah. That, I agree with. I didn't like that you couldn't transform at will in Dragon History mode either.

That is true Goku had no evil traces within him, as such he could not be hurt by his attack.
