Where in the movie does it state they were Vampires?

Will Smith is a great actor on the most part.

It doesn't say they are in the movie, but they are. It says so in the book. I've seen it say so from several different sources. Though I've yet to read the book myself.

They aren't vampires in the Dracula sense at all. The have basic similarities in that they can't come out during the day and they feast on blood but they do not look one bit like vampires and they have a disease that made them that way and he's trying to cure them.

They don't sleep in coffins and hate garlic and he doesn't drive stakes through their hearts to kill them. So they were not what people would typically think of vampires at all.

They were cannibalistic and primitive devolved humans.

Or they did a piss poor job of making it into a movie because someone like myself who hasn't read the box are going to get the opinion that 1. There were just mutated humans or 2. They failed to explain they are Vampires.

So the creatures from The Descent are Vampires also? Because
these creatures as similar to the ones in I Am Legend.

Movies always change vampires appearances around so you can't really base anything on that, and the movie didn't want the cliche vampire killing routine, with the stakes and garlic and crosses, they went with the guns instead, the movie is a lot different than the book, but nonetheless in the book it clearly makes them out to be vampires. From what I've seen of the book it used a lot of vampire cliche's such as vampire bats and all that stuff. I myself probably wouldn't of gone to see it if it was like that.

I thought it was fairly obvious they were vampires myself. Cannibalistic and devolved humans don't typically burn up in the sun or transform people into being like themselves by biting them. At least I don't think so.

And I don't see the point of bringing The Descent into all of this. The Descent hardly had any similarities to vampires.

They were Vampires in the book, Neville dangled garlic around the outside of the house, drove steaks through people, and used other anti-vampire things.

I don't remember vampire bats in the book... if you had read the book you would have found that it wasn't all cliche and it turned a lot of things on its head when it came to the crosses/garlic etc.

As for the film, it was a waste of what could have been an excellent film. They ruined the ending.

Just got back. Alot of people hype this film up to be scary. It's not that scary, well few jump scenes here and there but no horror. SUSPENSE! Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Not too much action but enough, this is a suspense film. I thought it was great although it was too short, didn't reach the 2hour mark. Definately worth a watch at the theater. 4 1/2 out of 5 for me. Go see it!

What i saw about the vampire bats was that Neville in the book thought he was immune because he was bitten by a vampire bat, but that's just what I read online, could be wrong.
I was glad how it ended, I haven't read the book but the books ending seemed a lot more depressing and morbid I was happy with the more heroic end.

They did not intend to use the vampire angle. They downplayed that whole thing because it's not a movie about vampires.

It was okay, I found the intense scenes kind of funny. I might not have liked because I'm not a big fan of Will Smith, but I don't know. I didn't like the ending though.

It was all like

Spoiler:
"Don't come out till they're gone"

"There's room in here for you"

and then he blows himself up. dumb.

Ah I thought you meant changing into bats etc and silly things like that. Yes there is a part in the book where he mentions bitten by a bat, and also a part where he says one of the 'vampires' is dumb because he is trying to jump in the air and fly like a bat. Something like that.

The Omega Man is a 'homage' to the novel, not exactly like it, but at least it was not under the same name.
Will Smith's acting seems too predictable to me. I will be seeing this movie on Boxing Day, however, I can already see Will Smiths one dimensional character completely destroying the complex character of Neville.

Neville is supposed to be an average man, not some Dr marine with infinite amount of scientific knowledge.

Although, the movie may be good, ie, may be entertaining.

Holywood-isation of a classic was never successful, as it in almost all cases, downplayed the story, simplified its characters and either relied the whole movie on famous actors, or CGI.

As of today. I Am Legend has only made...$137.4 million and a total of $157.2 million worldwide. Smith fell a whopping 56% in its second week of release. I Am Legend has not lived up to expectations as it must pick up the pace if it expects to become a hit.

I thought Will Smith did an excellent job. One of the highlights of the movie, actually.

I don't. I thought he was horrible, the lady was plausible, but not great. Don't get me wrong though, the man can act, it just wasn't one of his better performances.

Thats probably because you haven't read the book, and you don't have the set idea of what Neville is supposed to be like.

I am Legend hasn't lived up to expectations? Based on what speculations? WB only projected it would make 40 million opening weekend and it almost made that much weekend two.

I think it was actually one of his best. He pretty much carried the whole movie by himself. Most people think the movie lost steam once the other characters were injected.

I think the ending was too abrupt , the moive is not so good as I thought.
